Hey guys, I'm planning to develop a VN with Ren'Py, with a distant perspective of monetization through Patreon. But what I'm doing now is deciding what engine to use for the creation of visuals. Specifically, I'm considering Koikatsu vs. Honey Select 2. I like Koikatsu more than HS2, but I have heard a couple of times that Patreon is inherently biased against Koikatsu-based VNs and is much more likely to ban them. Is this true?
One specific instanse I know of is the ban of Lessons in Love by Selebus on Patreon in late 2021 (although its darker themes probably contributed, too). I know that there are specific guidelines about what in-game topics are prohibited on Patreon, but aside from that, do you have any info on whether Koikatsu VNs are actually less safe on Patreon, compared to Honey Select- or DAZ-based? Any major past incidents that you know of? Any advice on how to keep myself safe (aside from avoiding prohibited topics)?
