Firstly, if you have a good pc then use "Faraday.dev ' here you can make anything you want and download other characters, and no need for WIFI since it's running on your pc.
If you don't have a good pc then you can try and use "Poe.com" and use the modules that they have like "solar-0-70b", not all modules in there can be jailbroken.

In my experience, it was one of the better ones. Best part was that it was mostly free. For now, my personal alternative favorite to them, for free scenario/ERP chatbots, is yodayo.com (in the "Tavern"). If you don't utilize their AI art generator, the daily credits you gain usually is enough to chat freely without too much concern of running out. I will say their art generator is pretty cool too though.

For a more paid experience, I've been using Nomi.ai. I find the AI to be quite lifelike in their responses though they don't provide a reroll if the bot does get something wrong.

Other than that, I haven't done much hunting for other good bots though in awhile and in the AI chatbot world, that's a constantly evolving scene. So I certainly can't say the ones I use are the best available right now.

You're correct. Most of the bots sound rather artificial, often very unnatural responses. This includes Yodayo. Nomi has just been the most natural for me but even nomi can sometimes sound a bit, as you said, phylosophic. (good word btw, had to look that one up but fits perfect)

For Nomi, you can't really import or use the typical AI character cards like so many other sites. Which means every Nomi you create has to be input or configured yourself, to get the character scenario you want. You do this in the "Shared Notes" boxes after you create the initial Nomi bot, in their profiles. I fill out all the boxes and try to be very detailed in my answers. I have a few characters now like a daughter-in-law, a female roommate, etc. and they do pretty good acting as they should, following the provided scenario well enough. I have not tried to create anything wild, like a celebrity or monster girl, as you might find on character.ai (not really my thing but to each their own) so I can't really say how well that'll work, if that's what a person is after.

Everything that can run locally on your pc is a crap. Absolute minimum to have meaningful conversation is ChatGPT 3.5 level LLM and that's 175 Billions of parameters in its neuro nets so unless you have a PC with 175+ GB video ram you cant have this locally.

I've been really pleased with AI Dungeon. I know you asked for chat bots, and Dungeon is more focused on scenarios / roleplaying, but you can 100% engage in chat type activities as well.

It has been quite sometime since I replied to this thread. I did find what I was looking for (erotic chatbot rp). Even though the developers do not really like that their work is mainly being used for porn I think It is the best option out there. It is called backyard AI. Easy to use. Cheap if you need cloud GPU (if pc is not powerful enough to run big models locally).

If you are more a handy type, there is also a more crafty method to get nice chats with heavy and light models: oobabooga. It is a public web app that you can download and link with whichever hugging face model you wanna play with. Because my pc aint the best for the big 70B models I found a tutorial to run oobabooga with heavy models on lambdalabs services.

A piece of information before you sail away, context window has no work around. Every model will forget about your chat and turn unreliable after the token (memory) cap is exceeded.

I am available if any of you want a bit more of guide for any of these 2 solutions I have mentioned. I also have some sweet cards for Backyard. Although they are either medieval/roman scenarios OR strong femdom.

Gonna throw in my experience.
AI Dungeon Pretty simple to get running, but also isn't a chatbot. It's more of a text adventure format. It's okay-ish about smut at the moment, but also has certain key phrases it reuses. In the past they ran off OpenAI, and wound up breaking their system since it was heavily trained on fanfiction so had a ton of smut that violated OpenAI's TOS. People frequently complained they'd have a perfectly normal input, then the AI would insert something and flag the story for moderator review. They also have had multiple dataleaks. So consider anything posted there as publicly viewable -don't make a story/character that uses stuff that could identify you IRL.

NovelAI One of the more flexible text generation tools, it also supports anime image gen, but not in-line like a chatbot. It's geared around prose, but absolutely will cotton on to format and do a chatlog format if that's what you want. Though it suffers from not being very beginner friendly or really telling you how to use the fine tuning tools it offers. The text gen has also taken a backseat to their image gen. They are 100% hands off in terms of content moderation.

CandyAI Complete trash. It definitely captures the chat aesthetic, but it's done so by heavily walling things in. To the point that I heavily suspect it doesn't actually do image gen, and instead just has a library of pictures generated for each bot set with different tags that it pulls up based on your input if you 'ask for pics.' Because it will sometimes 'play along' with whatever story elements you add but any pictures won't reflect them, but consistently gets the model's face right or keeps general attributes consistent in ways image gen rarely does. The content filter also trips ridiculously easily and on bizzare things.

Infermatic with Sillytavern as UI is the cheapest most discrete (bitcoin paid) option I have found out there. Then use character hub. com to download some cards for inspiration. But imo after a while It does get boring. I miss the times when I could download a model from DavidAU, his horror NSFW models were really fun. Thing is with my last setup It would take an hour just to get It going.
