Doesn't work like that, there's an event that plays out slightly different if you have the points or not that happens in Ch. 8 IRRC without looking back at the script.
MC is always going to get sober and go to meetings, so not to worry about that.
But, if you're looking for a game where the characters are dragged into the 9th circle of hell based on your decisions, this is not your game.
I leave that stuff for the evening news, this game is largely about the people who make it (get sober or eventually do). Now you can ask anyone else in the thread that's played the game. There's plenty of drama getting there and even after you do. But, there's also a lot of joy as well. Cheers!

I seem to remember there was going to be a bad ending but it had to be besides getting a lot of junkie points the player having to actively make the choice to get a bad end.

I nixed the relapse path ending for the game, because I didn't wanna write it personally and nobody wanted to play it per a poll I made on patre4on. So, it was an easy decision.

Makes sense. I sort of imagined it as his friends/girls got better but he sort of left them behind for the junk and wound up with him and Paris together for a bad end - which is either long term prison or death from it.

Respect to you mate. I hope you continue enjoying life without this horrid sh1t.
The game seems great but I don't think it's for me, since it's based on personal experience and seems to be IRL based to the extreme, we'll prbbly get mono endings and I won't lie I like having my harem ending lol.
I might try it though, who knows maybe I'll be hooked
Still, all the best mate
Gotta say that this game is outstanding. The writing is superb, esp. the characterizations, which makes sense since they are based on real people.
I find myself caring so much about everyone, and the tension is agonizing about anyone possibly dying off at almost any time. I also was a heavy drinker and user, but never coke or dope. I managed to stay away from those. The feels are almost too much to bear, but I keep coming back for more. Haven't quite finished season 1 yet, but, man. Great stuff.

I remember this dev saying that drug addicts prostituting themselves is not common and not how it happens IRL.
Sure, not all drug addicts do it, but many do. I live in a really small town and I know a girl who does it, and she does it for VERY cheap(and she's a looker, could be earning a lot of money doing highly paid escort jobs but is so desperate that she sucks taxi drivers dicks for a fix). Now imagine in the big cities.
And that's not even the worst thing they do. I've seen people kill their own parents because they didn't want to give them money to buy more drugs. Many(if not most) steal everything in their house when they run out of money to buy more drugs and get very aggressive when their parents or relatives call them out for it.
Honestly, I kinda hate people who think their personal experience is the universal truth. In this case it's even worse because it couldn't be further from the truth. That's one of the reasons that kept me from playing this game to this day. I might give it a try in the future though.
I'm speaking about "hard" drugs by the way. This girl I speaked of is a crack cocaine user, but heroin(which is said in the title to be the drug they're addicted to) isn't much better.
The behaviour obviously differ from drug to drug because each one has its own addiction rate(with crack and heroin at the top). Although, many addicts start at "weaker" drugs(like Marijuana) and go up in the ladder progressively as they begin to develop resistance.

I don't think the story always has to be 100% realistic. I don't want to see people rotting alive and mothers selling their daughters for sex in this game ....
I was glad I didn't see people stirring shit and injecting themselves in their veins and then getting their hands cut off.

That's not the issue. The thing is that the dev spoke like it's a very uncommon/rare thing when it is not. I don't doubt that was his own experience but that's not the reality like he tried to claim.
