If you haven't already, check out the Help section via the In-Game Main Menu. After that, make sure you have tutorials and tooltips turned on.
The start of a new game gives a basic overview of things, if you read the text it has, but for new playthroughs your goals should be: Grinding, Achievements, Completing the Zones and discovering the optimal outcomes to encounters.
The game has a in-depth combat system, if you have difficulties understanding it after reading the tutorials and the Combat Intro tutorial that plays during your first battle, try practicing on Goblins, Brigands and Weresluts.
Food is best earned via the Inn, unless changes have been made that makes buying food easier.
Quick Save often, but also create new saves that you rotate to discover the consequences of certain encounters.
If you have trouble understanding encounters or difficulty dealing with food, use the Cheats option to enable the Encounter Viewer so you can replay specific Encounters.
Cheats disable Achievement gain, but you can disable cheats after using them to earn Achievements after the fact. With Cheats Enabled, you can actually skip all combat by choosing the outcome you want in the Outcome Displayer (Middle Right side of the screen during combat)
Also don't play story mode, play adventure mode for all the things twiton mentioned. Story mode is atm just a bad end simulator with expanded scenes. I would stay away from story mode unless you're desperate for more reading and have experienced most of adventure mode.
Is in this version Alma's portal at camp bugged? Game rage quits when entering camp. To recreate this unknown behavior i had to start another character. Seems up until Alma actually teaches Hiro to make that camp portal - game runs fine. But it rage quits in the same second when Alma spawns that camp portal.
Edit0: also it doesn't matter how many followers i have at camp (Alma/Trudy/Kylira/Urka). It's all fine, up until portal should appear (be teached/available by Alma) in the center of the camp. Rolling back to previous version gives no game errors.
Edit1: could someone check that with my " quicksave.json " ? Save file location is " %AppData%\TalesOfAndrogyny ". Go to camp, chat with Alma > Make a request of her > Teach portal magic (Requires: Magic 4) > ...
after that she should make camp Town Portal, however game errors out (on v0.3.54.4 , but works ok on v0.3.54.0 ).

it worked for me btw but v0.3.54.3 not v0.3.54.4 for some resone that happend to me like year ago too but istarted new game and it worked may be it is v0.3.54.4 that is bugged try new game and if it dose not worke it is the game ver is bugged and if it worke then yeh it the same error igot a year ago but like they did not fix

I think that's sort of planned, with certain encounters returning later and your choices affecting how they react. (Brigand, Kylira, Urka, Trudy but that's not so clear rn, Harpy and the Generals ofc)
Years ago, when I was on the Majalis Discord, Maj did confirm that there would be impact to the choices made upon victory or simply how you treat characters, not all of them but some. With Adventure Mode being rounded off, we're likely to see more of that.

The story is also a lot more focused on Hiro the Lowlander as a character, with actual history behind him, but also it's at times got a tone that's way more critical of his quest and often introspective.
That Doppelganger Encounter had Hiro on the ropes, struggling with his own sense of being and motivations.

We know there's been Holy Wars dividing the Self-Righteous from the Profane, that the Profane was in-fact a god that took the place of Winnie's Goddess (Is?) who has vanished from the Pantheon.
Before the Demon King, humanity fought amongst itself due to the Moon Lord's War and his fanatics, we still don't even know if the Moon Lord was a Demon or a Fey creature. Sort of like how a Dullahan seems odd to be amongst a Demon King's Army. Or a Minotaur, a Catgirl and a Jester.
And Hiro's Mother is still one of the biggest pieces of this puzzle, so too is the yet unseen Demon Matriarch that commands even the Demon King. We haven't even met the actual Demon King, we haven't met the Enchanter that Hiro's Mother considered her closest ally, we haven't heard more yet of the Paladin of Drepnir or have any answers to the fact that Hiro seems to only recall his Mother from dreams he has. That Hiro's Mother was likely the last true hero of an era of blood and steel, followed by one of Hedonism and Understanding.
I've inferred clues you wouldn't even reach for. I really do hope Maj knocks it out of the park on creating something that subverts our expectations of these story exclusive characters, because what is androgyny if not subversive of the norms.

From what I've read in the script, it's specifically tied to asking her to exorcise you of a spirit. Since I know the Ghost Bride Possession is tied to a Game Over, there must be a check related to something similar. It's also likely you can only get the scene after you've done the Codpiece quest for her, since she now has dialogue for after that quest.
Brigand should be arrested, Trudy is always right, Dark Knight should marry an Ogre, Urka is actually just a cosplaying elf, never pet any of the beastfolk, Kylira will likely be the giver of the CBT, Selkie was actually Trudy's Former Travelling Companion, Alma buys all of her jewellery on Etsy, Dullahan's Horse will be the next character, Cait isn't a natural blonde, Jess & Mino have begun refurbishing the Labyrinth to host the new Crystal Maze, you should always kill Protea, the Moon Lord is the Blacksmith and Tetsu killed Hiro's Mother. Also, the big secret, Majalis will instead of making an Urban Fantasy game they'll be making a Gacha game called Tales of Avarice. Quick rundown: we've got the Minotauress Cowgirl art (ride 'em cowgirl!), we've got the Trudy Anal animation (ride 'em...? cowgirl...?), we've got the Dark Knight smug post-anal art, and the ̶f̶u̶r̶t̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶p̶y̶g̶m̶y̶ Campgrounds animation, which has a nice immersive feel to it, and, surprisingly, is the trigger tech for moving on with some of the final, and important, major additions to ToA - those being the World Map finalization and the last two towns. Don't worry too much about "last" and "final" there if you want us to keep working on ToA, because as long as enough people are asking for it, we'll keep making ToA, but we do want to make sure that we've got the complete package, and that involves those things, Evoker, and story mode (which are dependent on those things.
We've also got new scenes for the Minotauress, Trudy, and Ettin, along with music for the newest characters and new foley work.
Navigating the interactive screens is now possible with the keyboard, including a rest hotkey, and we do plan to add gamepad support and probably Steam deck support at some point, so we've been preparing for that. We also have a
