Hayuuu! New monthly!

Quick rundown: we've got the Minotauress Cowgirl art (ride 'em cowgirl!), we've got the Trudy Anal animation (ride 'em...? cowgirl...?), we've got the Dark Knight smug post-anal art, and the ̶f̶u̶r̶t̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶p̶y̶g̶m̶y̶ Campgrounds animation, which has a nice immersive feel to it, and, surprisingly, is the trigger tech for moving on with some of the final, and important, major additions to ToA - those being the World Map finalization and the last two towns. Don't worry too much about "last" and "final" there if you want us to keep working on ToA, because as long as enough people are asking for it, we'll keep making ToA, but we do want to make sure that we've got the complete package, and that involves those things, Evoker, and story mode (which are dependent on those things.

We've also got new scenes for the Minotauress, Trudy, and Ettin, along with music for the newest characters and new foley work.

Navigating the interactive screens is now possible with the keyboard, including a rest hotkey, and we do plan to add gamepad support and probably Steam deck support at some point, so we've been preparing for that. We also have a -compatible prototype build.

This month is gonna be all survey stuff so we can clear out the backlog, hopefully, and we should be caught up on that roughly by the end of it, especially now that both our animators are at it again!

Is the build with compatibility available for download?

It's still a prototype build, so likely not as it's still being tested by the dev. Besides, what if there's still issues? You don't want it on full power just because it has the incorrect code for when the player clicks on the Perk Menu.

Preloading is eating mostly VRAM not Ram, it eats up to 20gb of VRAM on my 3090 which is ridiculous. Not even games like Baldurs gate 3 on Max settings and 4K resolution reach 15gb of VRAM and that is a GIGANTIC game. I can give also the example of Cyberpunk with an Ultra mod pack of 1100 mods and even that is eating 18gb of VRAM on my 3090. I do not understand what kind of preloading this game is doing honestly as with or without it the game still behaves the same with 0.5-1sec loadings after chats or going to map etc so it is utterly useless of a feature unless it only helps on Low-end pcs which they wouldn't have a lot of VRAM to begin with.

I play on AMD/Linux/Native Java.
It does not use VRAM.
It uses System RAM on preload, can see the allocation go up in btop.
Probably different case scenario when using nvidia but I sold mine recently so can't test.

PS. Preloading has been broken for over an year now. Search this thread for backtrace and dissect which build broke it.

If you want to test your machine real bad... Just use a solution like a "RAM Disk". I have used SoftPerfect RAM Disk. Unpack/unzip/extract all of the "Tales_Of_Androgyny-v0.3.55.0-Win64.zip" into created ram disk (just make 4096 MB ram disk to be sure all files would fit)... Give it a letter like " R: " for easy recognition in windows explorer. It should appear like a normal local drive.
After all files are copied to ram disk just run the game from Ram disk drive ... Go to " Encounters " (need to have enabled Cheat Mode in game options). Than choose " Beauty Pageant ", press and hold skip button, or CTRL key on your keyboard to skip dialogues... This way you will find out how fast and if your machine hiccups during dialogue skipping. As it will just load many in game characters. It should go very fast without much of the hiccups.
Downside might be that after restart - that ram disk will be cleared. So use it just for testing how fast your machine is.
However i don't see the point of doing it when having low ram (equal or less than 8 GB?) or if having an SSD.

On Android, the text box is obscuring almost a quarter of the screen and always blocking below-waist level bits. I wish there were some way to get rid of the disturbing tint and make it text only.

Good question actually, that's interesting

I use MSI Afterburner and HWInfo to check statistics & for me its using Vram to do all the preloading, the game uses about 1gb of Ram for me in both scenarios so i'm not entirely sure! Maybe it's broken who knows.

Hullo! New weekly~

We've got a very lovely Golem Anal animation, in which she pistons into Hiro with some machine-like precision, along with an expansion of all the related scenes. We've also got a bunch of new Dark Knight scenes related to the "Scrambled Eggs" ending for her battle. There's a few more scenes left for that I need to finish up, so those are marked as In Construction for now.

Next up we've got the Werewolf Cowgirl art, and more Quetzal~

Preloading reaches up to 17GB of memory and 25GB in virtual memory on my machine. Behavior is like this: when i start the game it slowly starts to eat ram, after maybe 45 seconds it fills it all, than it returns to around 2.5 GB memory used. Without it - meaning disabled Preloading - it only takes around 1GB of memory. I don't see the point to use this feature as i have NVME SSD drive capable of ~7000 MB/s read speed. I have also 32GB RAM laptop. And have been using SSD drives on SATA or NVME interface for years now... No need to do some "preloading". I don't think thats also relevant to Microsoft Windows 10/11 versions. I have been using both of them and that Preload worked exactly the same, every time on both of them.

However also more games use technology named . That's a real deal feature. Not the Preload which is now nothing more than a ram hogging feature. Although it might be useful feature just to test how much stable is your machine when program is bloating that machines memory. :D
my device's on the lower end, and i used to have preloader cuz it takes more time to start the game but makes it smoother and less demanding on my device. So I'm sorry for having a shitty laptop that i got for uni and turned it into a paradise for hentai lol. Last time i played the game was about 3.22 irrc mark so it took about 3-4 minutes to preload, now it doesn't want to preload at all so my device heats up after long sessions. The game still works fine but heats up my device. My gpu is on the weaker end, not just weaker but plain useless lol, ram's fine with about 16 gb and storage is half empty
