I'm playing on windows and getting a similar issue with adult content enabled the text plays normally but the scene doesn't play just get the background image however disabling adult content the scene plays but its censored.
no. it's not up to us to download and mess with stuff to fix YOUR game. if you can't make the game run the way it was intended, it's going to fail
In the images.rpy file the code to play the webm files is wrong. It says channel="video" but it should say channel="movie" after I changed that they worked correctly.

That fixed it for me when your previous suggestions of changing renderers and codecs didn't work.
