Generative AI exists to benefit venture capitalist and no one else. If they can ever get it to a point where it doesn't just constantly burn money and resources, all of it's use-cases are just just ways to extract wealth and funnel it upwards. You will do the drudge work so that a corporate data center can burn down forests and eat lakes of water to 'make art' instead. Why am I not surprised this gets the premature evacuation? Privitude, it sucks and you're 100% right. This was one of my favorite games and I supported it a long time ago too, but I don't support anything in development anymore. Almost every game I've really liked gets abandoned or "finished" early. Devs getting away with highway robbery and people getting duped out of their money is sad on so many levels.
I do find one part about this ironically funny though and it's his lecture about AI art when you start up his other game. About how people should never support AI because artists are special or something. This fucking guy is the exact reason why AI art needs to exist. Because artists are very often flaky people. Creativity is not something that can easily be forced into a reliable, consistent work schedule, so they get burnt out and want to create other things. It's understandable, but it's the huge projects they take on and the money they extract from people during production that is the problem. All the while they give one excuse after another. Just be honest and don't keep taking money for nothing.
Look at GRRM, he's suing OpenAI just for using his words to train AI, meanwhile he has like 5 unfinished series. His greatest work, which would be one of the most epic fantasy series for now and forever more, will never be finished. It's tragic.
AI art still needs hard work from humans to make it good, they have to have creative vision, they just don't have enough natural talent. "Who wants to support people who type prompts all day?" Who wants to support your bum ass Geeseki?
Of course it exists to funnel money up the corporate ladder, what doesn't? It also empowers creators. And I'm okay with that tradeoff.Generative AI exists to benefit venture capitalist and no one else. If they can ever get it to a point where it doesn't just constantly burn money and resources, all of it's use-cases are just just ways to extract wealth and funnel it upwards. You will do the drudge work so that a corporate data center can burn down forests and eat lakes of water to 'make art' instead.
Folks who use gen-AI are not artists, nor are they creative. They are at best an art commissioner, asking something else to make something they asked for. They cannot be original, nor can anything gen-AI output be original. Look at the projects that won Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon animation competition. They were nearly all made by passionate fans who poured a lot of time and effort into their works. The telling thing however is the behind-the-scenes vignettes each the winners created, where they go in depth into their creative processes, and the visual metaphors they used. Each one of them could go on for a whole day explaining their craft, except for one. The one dude who won using gen-AI? He has a laughably short video where he spends half the time extoling his love for Pink Floyd, then says how he put a bunch of 3D assets he (supposedly) created into his local training data and let the model run. That's it. Outside of making a few 3D models, he cannot explain what he did or why. There was no creative process there. Nothing was being communicated.
Don't believe me? Ask gen-AI to make you an image of a full glass of wine. Full to the top, ready to spill over. It cannot do it. While you can imagine it, and an artist could make it, you've probably never actually seen that; and because zero images of it exist within the datasets used to train gen-AI the model has no way of probabilistically getting to a full glass of wine from all the images it has of half-full glasses.
Gen-AI doesn't think. Gen-AI doesn't create. Gen-AI doesn't communicate. It is an elaborate pattern recreating black box built with linear math. Want the same image you just generated, but with one tiny tweak? You'll never get that, because every generation is a full roll of all the dice.
Sure, there are scammers out there. People making their own art? Very rare. They can get burned out, or be bad at communicating or business admin, but on the whole they're not trying to actively defraud people. Folks using Gen-AI on the other hand? Yeah, they're akin to plagiarists, selling you on a 'product' they didn't make but are passing off as their own. It is inherently a scam. Much like plagiarists, once they've crossed that moral line and demonstrated that they are cool with stealing other people's works, you cannot trust that they haven't done so before and won't do so in the future. It's why plagiarism summons the hammer of god down upon you in academics. If they're using Gen-AI for the CG, what's to stop them from using it to write words or do the code? F95 is absolutely awash in entirely Gen-AI shovelware, bland VN's and simple puzzle games they could easily copy the code for and then shove nonsensical Gen-AI images into, hoping that enough sad horny dipshits would more than cover the costs of shitting out the 'game'.
Gen-AI makes spam and enables plagiarism diffused through an unknowable black box built by venture capitalists ghouls to siphon even more wealth out of the middle class, and the result is that everything about the end user experience on the internet is way worse now than it was a decade ago (and if they have their way, things will only get worse).
So I dunno, maybe don't extol the virtues of being a fucking cog in the corporate machine?
I don't care about the quality of this game or it's finished state. I was surprised to see it had reached 1.0 and was curious, that's all. I'd checked out on the project long ago, because these sandboxes I find to be largely boring and juvenile experiences now. Don't like people 'milking' Patreon? Caveat Emptor, we're in a free market, so stop supporting them. Also stop buying Early Access games as well (or any mainstream AAA game at launch). The sooner you learn this fact, the better off you'll be. Gen-AI won't fix this, it will only make it worse. You're not wrong for being disappointed with this game, but your prescriptions for how to fix this are entirely off-base and out of touch with reality.
So filling the internet with spam at a meteoric rate while damaging our power infrastructure and the environment is worth it so that billionaires can make even more money? I disagree.Of course it exists to funnel money up the corporate ladder, what doesn't? It also empowers creators. And I'm okay with that tradeoff.
You fundamentally do not understand how to make art. You don't get the difference between an artist, and an art director. The person asking or commissioning an artist to do X and asking them to make modifications to the output is not the same as the artist doing the actual work. Art Directors on film and games don't get credit for the work of the artists working below them. They do not get to put their name on the art and pass it off as their own; neither do people who commission custom artwork. People who use Gen-AI are the art director in that analogy (at best), and even then only if they attempt to do anything to fix the final image. My point was that it also takes hard work to create something of quality using AI. The difference is that with increased accessibility there is more chance that people who were limited by lack of talent can use these tools to make something good through hard work. AI is easier and faster, so there's more AI shovelware, but this site was full of daz/realporn/illusion/etc shovelware long before AI art existed. Just like any daz or illusion game, the craft and effort is evident in the best games, and none of the assets are their own. None of the engines are their own. They're all just tools to assist creators, they need to be given instructions just the same.
His 'vision' is built upon the corpses of worldwide art theft. He's a plagiarist, but with more steps involved to obfuscate the theft. Not impressed.I really don't care about some random Pink Floyd contest winner. I can just as easily point you towards aDDont, who is very open about his process, regularly talks about it at length, and clearly has a creative vision that he is able to bring to life with AI. He gets replicable results because he knows how to use the tools and he works hard. If Geeseki had assisted his natural talent with knowledgeable use of AI and hard work, ATU might have actually been finished.
Again, I think NOT doing that is preferable. As generally not giving more money to billionaires is better than the alterative, all other things being equal (and they're most definitely not equal here). Those old games will be fine, the water is better off in the lake than cooling data centers. We will be fine with less Shrimp Jesus images on Facebook, trust me.Palmer used pictures of the model Elle B to create Emily: Sister Attraction and it was fantastic. He was an artist whose work was not diminished because he augmented it with borrowed imagery. There's hundreds of old text based games that could be enhanced by adding even a handful of images. If AI can enable more experiences like that, I'm fine with it.
Except, if Vampire Survivors had used Gen-AI, they'd probably have just gotten actual Castlevania sprites (images of which had been fed into their training data). Rather than having real artists who created new sprites that were a homage and call back to classic 8-bit sprite work. The sprites that were later taken directly from Castlevania where part of a Castlevania themed DLC, that they made in conjunction with Konami; as in they paid for and had the license/rights to use those sprites where applicable (e.g. Shanoa from Order of Ecclesia on the Nintendo DS didn't have a native 8-bit sprite). The early original sprites that some got upset at for looking too much like knock-offs? Bought in an asset pack, which the dev checked and vetted to make sure they weren't just copies; One of my favorite games of the last few years is Vampire Survivors. It took its art style and many of its assets directly from Castlevania, but it's still a creative endeavor that has value, even though it's not original in any way.
Okay, so your solution is to burn things down faster so long as you get to enjoy your AI slop?As far as being a cog in a corporate machine, or concerns about the environmental impact, these ships have long since sailed. We are all corporate cogs with no agency, and unless fusion becomes a reality tomorrow and combustion engines are replaced by reactors, we're fucked. Even then we'd probably need massive sequestration projects to prevent collapse. We're already beyond several cascading tipping points and we're dissolving the agreements that would have made any difference, not that they were being honored in the first place.
Yes. Do better. Be the change you want to see in the world, rather than a hapless gooner. We all deserve better than AI slop.In the meantime this horny dipshit would like a few completed porn games to fap to before I die or civilization crumbles, whichever comes first. Is that too much to ask for?
It's the size of the archive... 7-zip, compression, all that stuff.from 1.5gb in 0.55 to 900mb in 1.1 there's alot of cut going on here
thankyousmCheat code please
FYI, 0.55 is the last version with content but it's mostly wireframes and lots of text regarding the sex world plot, if you care about the game to fap then steam version is more than enough.I heard a lot of content got removed from the game to push the 1.0 release. Does anyone know which version had the most content in it?
oh are you still here? i think one piece will end and this will still be not completed

Holy shit
