LP is a master playing with plausible things. He is developing the VN and all the events that happened to Sophia in less that a month in San Alejo and we watch all of them as plausible things. That's the success of this game.Very interesting opinion, but most importantly optimistic!
I want to say, as I have said more than once, I am concerned about the L&P's drive towards conditional realism. His view of realism is a very subjective concept! What in his understanding is real and what is not, we will find out when he finishes work on AWAM.
But we clearly have reason to be optimistic!
For example, before the last update, I assumed that out of the three events that were possible at that time with Vicki and her boyfriend, there would be something different, but not a trip to the sauna. I assumed it was still early for Sofia. But we now know how far she has come.
Therefore, I think L&P is quite capable of surprising us, both in a good way and in a bad way!

"plausible" is a good choice of word by Rich in that post you linked.
Putting it back into AWAM context, it is not "realistic" that Sophia, a happily married mother of two teenagers and a school teacher should cheat on her husband by getting so corrupted in just 30 Playable Days. But one you set that as broadly the timeframe for this VN to take place (give or take one week time jump so far and the apparent cancellation of future time jumps), then we have to look at the various scenes as if they are "plausible".
Now I don't want to get into endless arguments as to which scenes are "plausible" (as I and many others can immediately think of at least one recent scene that is not "plausible") but it is still a good choice of word to use to discuss whether or not scenes fit in with the overall one month story arc. Now L&P has certainly strained the boundaries of "plausibility" but for me, with one exception, he has not broken them. So personally I still find the story as engaging as when I first discovered AWAM.

Where do you get that players will need to choose between Sophia and Marie? In the event list for playable day 13, the salon event is an event by itself. The only decision players of the Dylan route need to make is the last event, when players of the bonus storyline need to decide between Ellie and Sophia.
We specifically don't get a choice with Marie. Even those of us not on the Dylan route will get him at the salon event. This is the reason if Dylan does get a threesome, she will be involved.
