Good morning!
Chiming in really quick. First round of beta is as you'd expect, especially around the branching area. I have some last-minute renders wrapping up before packaging up the next beta build. Which by the way, happy to report I was able to fix the issue I had last week.
Issue was ren'py wouldn't let me build a distro, even though the game launched fine. The solution ended up being to just create a whole new game and copy the files over. Distribution built fine after.
There's only one snafu that isn't really a bug, but still a pain point right now. The farmers market scene, this scene was done in blender. Compared to the rest of the chapter, the quality just isn't there. But, I'm going to let it be and will re-visit this after I release the update. I'll have a clearer mind and I'll be able to focus on a solution. After this release, there'll be a patch that will include extra things I wanted to do for this chapter which is mostly UI/UX polishing. The updated renders will be thrown into the patch as well.
That about wraps it up! I'll have a release date next week.
Also, thanks all for the messages. I'll be answering them in the devlog following the release. So, feel free to continue asking.
Stay safe everyone,

digi

I wont respond to this again becasue their is no point, but apparenty you all were oblivious to the last two years of this game. Two years of nothing. I will not return to this thread. So spit all the venom you want.

No the Updates were always slow. Chapter 5 took a year and Chapter 4 10 Months
A little bit of math to give some perspective on the update history. Original release was March 2021. The last content update was October 2023. During that time there where 4 major content releases...over 31 months. That averages to 7.75 months per update. Even though the later ones took longer, the update pace was pretty decent for big, chonky updates.

I totally understand the current release delay. I completely empathize with the dev's ordeal; I went through something very similar. That said, it's 16 months since the last content update. At 18 months, titles usually get flagged as abandoned if there is no update, even if the dev is actively communicating about the work they're doing. That would be bad. The good news is the beta seems to have progressed well and an update is expected soon, before that would happen.

My concern is what happens with the next update. I love this game. I really hope it continues and gets completed in a reasonable amount of time. For that to happen, the future updates need to be released somewhat closer to the old average amount of time. Hopefully the update is great and things progress quickly with the next one.

I think most people can empathize with him and that's why there is not much outrage over the development time. What made me lose my enthusiasm for the development of this project was his Christmas estimate release day. I mean if the beta goes well it will be 3 months late. So it either means he is catastrophically bad at estimation, he lied and he never intended to release it in December or he could have released it in December but didn't do shit between the announcement and Christmas. Either way it makes him untrustworthy.

Thats just artists lol

I dont really mind slow development (i would never sub all year long anyway and only in update months) but artemis is a case which makes you wonder how good and successful it could be with a proper development speed.

5-6k renders
Thanks
