Yeah, unfortunately in my infinite wisdom I decided to take the lazy route of one save slot per LI/SG. I had lost all my renpy saves when I swapped hard drive and forgot to backup the %appdata%/renpy folder.
Figured it'd be faster to speed through the content as quickly as possible to get ready for the update.

What I've heard is that DPC got fed up with trying to diagnose bugs that eventually turned out to be caused by mod use, so decided to put in anti-mod features to discourage people using them (possibly also to make the mod-crashes obvious and easy to diagnose).
I can certainly sympathise with wanting to eliminate a major source of PEBCAK bugs.
