I spent the night thinking about it and Bella having a room full of whiteboards with all sort of evidence about the corruption at B&R make SO MUCH sense:
- All the reactions would work: MC&Maya are shocked to see pictures of people they know (or even them) on the boards. Bella have the face of someone thinking "Shit, I was about to talk to them about it soon (or tonight) and now it look VERY bad". And when MC narrated that he "should've seen the signs" and "would've called for help sooner", it fit if he realize her husband probably got killed and she's on a solo mission for vengeance.
- Those whiteboards were probably started by James, looking into Wallace Ressources-Burke and the scholarships
- James could've actually be trying to help Burke, if he is being blackmail by Wallace (he was working there before and Wallace probably has dirt on him... but Burke probably has some on the company too, so who knows)
- In the end, he got caught and probably killed. The body was never found, but Bella had a very big suspicion that he isn't alive anymore.
- Before knowing MC and starting to open up to that group of friends, Bella was the Ice Queen. She didn't want to be even remotely close to any of them to stay objective in her mission (expect Jill, that she already knew).
- She might've picked up the pace recently since Quinn is a bit sloppy with her restaurant, which give an opening for slip ups
- She help Sage with her dissertation, which is a great way to become close to the HOTs President + Stephen daughter.
- She feel bad for investigating her new friends without telling them, so it will be an emotional talk (especially Sage who would find out about Stephen)
- She know (in certain route) who cheated on the mid-terms but isn't doing anything about it? Is it because the culprit is part of her investigation and doesn't want to jeopardize anything?
- On top of that, you get a callback to the whiteboards (MC talk about the whiteboard at Patrick's house + he wrote Dr. Dick in the classroom).
There's also another possibility: James started looking into what happened to Lana (to help Bella help Jill) and got caught up with Buddy at some point. Since James disappeared 3 years ago, it's hard to tell if the B&R corruption was ongoing during that time or if it started when Burke saw an opening by working with Quinn (It was probably in effect with someone else in charge, I don't remember if it was establish in the first few episodes). This one is less likely.
Just imagine if Bella (or James) was the one who actually put the camera because she wanted someone to slip up and mention Burke (I'm kidding on that one, but we never know, since Magnar probably got the videos by hacking the transmition feed or something like that)
