You're right. I remember the stairs from the previous episodes intro animation.

But I also remember some dude's silhouette walking into the frame of the the open door, coming from the room...

Which means
1. Someone is in the locked-now-unlocked room. Which is insane.
It's quite obviously just going to be the MC walking out of that room. The flashforward at the start of Ep 9 is likely a few beats ahead of where Ep 11 finishes off, which means Derek's probably been rushed off to hospital at this point and, for whatever reason, the MC has gone into that room and is now coming out of it.

Not really that complicted to figure out this is what it will end up being.
Now we have to guess it was unlocked since Bella was using it for storage/Christmas decor?
Obvious answer is that Bella used this usually locked room to store some of the furniture that has clearly been movied out of the main room to make way for the massive table. She's been getting very relaxed and carefree as of late, so not unlikely that this led her to forget to lock the door as she normally would have.
But then why would she be freaking out if it gets opened when she'd have to have gone in there to get stuff? Weren't we just helping her decorate in her path?
Because clearly there's something else in that room, something she really wanted to keep hidden, likely because it's traumatic to her. This is where people are getting the idea that it could be a child's room and that Bella lost a young child and is the reason why James left. But even if it's not that, there's clearly something in there she didn't want people to see, and no, it's not going to be something ridiculous like a dead body, or comatose James, or a sex dungeon, it will be something deeply emotionally traumatic to Bella from her past that she's kept hidden but also not removed from that room even though she probably should have.
And why would Maya be confused? Enough for our MC to stop holding Derek to go join her looking at a big dark storage room?

Seems like fabricated conflict and suspense for...towels?
Because again, whatever is in there has surprised her and him. It's a shock revelation about Bella, something they didn't know about her, and that's what leads to clear and obvious surprise. Like I said, a room decorated like a child's bedroom, with toys and other such things, could be the kind of big surprise that would stop her in her tracks and it's likely to be something along those lines.

Since none of our characters are to be seen in the Episode 9 opening, I'd say one or all of them are in that room and just exiting.
More like DPC is filling in the blanks from his outline from god knows how many years ago, and had to make a cheesy animation for Episode 9/Tommy's jump scare cut.

Unless that room is a surgery, no one would be in that room. And even if a surgery, you wouldn't put everyone in there anyway. I highly doubt anyone has medical knowledge of re-attaching fingers. This is a contrived setup.

As a forced cliffhanger, it makes very little to any sense, and would've been more believable if it was just a door to outside. Leaving the opportunity for anyone to be on the outside. Seriously, does anyone honestly think it's Bella's mummified husband in there? And if not, who cares? What would cause Maya and MC to stop in a crisis?

Let's get to the hospital.

It's such a dumb setup; a crisis would take more precedence over a mysterious storage room. Because...towels? Because Bella forgot to lock it? It's as if DPC doesn't know plot structure, pacing, or flow, but thinks it's time for a mystery reveal cliffhanger?

How'd that payoff waiting 1+ years for a non-interactive Riona resolution scene go? Can't help her, or Quinn? Here, have a cinematic about a children's story rodent eating another.

Yeah...great.

The truth is that DPC needs to be a little more humble.

The teasing he did with the EP.9 intro you only do when you're about to drop one of the TOP 10 plot twists of all time. From EP.9 to EP.12 will be what? 4-5 years between them? DPC will not be able to live up to expectations and this cliffhanger will be worse than the one in EP.8 involving the Burkes.

I actually can't wait

you're going to have people that will see the reveal as the equivalent of this:

it's going to be glorious :KEK:

That cliffhanger alone makes me hope that DPC this time WILL follow up on his possible plans from the past to release the episode in 2 parts. Then again, we could possible get a more extreme episode 9 situation where we first play about an hour of the game where they're in the hospital, before we finally get a flashback to Bella's house.

Well, shit… now DPC had to scrap at least one months work. Update pushed to 2027. Thanks for zilch, “Zero”! :sneaky:
I wouldn't be surprised if DPC decides to troll everyone and posts update on New Year eve 2027 January 2027 for extra immersion.

Maya is very very caring sister. her always and ever brother is bleeding out. so she is looking for towels. stay like a deer in car light infornt of a door... while she has a nice sweeter what would be perfect to stop the bleeding as a towel like in every film. but hey, the clothes are more important, right? right?

It's not that far fetched, right? It's gonna be the end of season 3 and maybe DPC takes a break over summer, so he doesn't get burned out from it. I think it is quite admirable, that he is keeping up the work for this large-scale project.
So winter 2026 sounds actually quite reasonable for the next update.

I didn't even know losing a finger caused extreme bleeding. Derek bled like he had lost an arm.

Make that 2026 and that timing would be awesome! Otherwise, no. ;)
I can see EP.12 being released in December 2026, that would be 20 months of development (seems like a fair amount of time given the ramifications).

Nah, more probably episode 12 will start with a Bella's past flashback. End the flashback and everyone is in the hospital with Derek and MC have that dumb, uncertain and thoughtful look in his face, maybe while scratching the back of head or have his arms dropped like he was tired, maybe thinking "I don't know what to think of this situation" because he is dumb (and it's not like he had a whole year of dev time to think about it). Maybe we will have our chosen LI on our side, maybe Bella won't be there.

Then we will have some dialogue and then the scene is going to cut back to Bella's house and whatever is behind the door and what happened. It won't be as impacting as we've been imagining and then when we returnt to the uni, there will be chaos or uneasiness and then we will fuck someone. That's about it. This is how the start of the episode will be

What I see a lot of people ignoring is that when the MC sees what's in the locked room you can hear his heart beating. Either it's something sinister or it's the DPC trying to hype EP.12.
From the timing I just always assumed it was Bella's heartbeat elevated
