Unless DPC really goes the braindead route and has James' corpse in the locked room, it is its own separate mystery from his fate. Baby room, memorial to James, sex dungeon, it requires an independent answer.
It is not even a mystery, it is a "curiosity." The important question is what he went to do and why he did not return. The possible reason why he went is quite irrelevant. Let's pretend it's really a room of a lost son, what difference does it make? Bella will tell this dramatic experience of her, and we are right back where we started. A dramatic moment with no consequences.

Yes but that would be what we call "sensible" and this is BADIK.
Suspension of disbelief is relative to the story being told, and Stephen is an intelligent enough man to realize that 3 years of trying to charm his way into her house, or whatever else he's attempted, is not working. MC made his way into Stephen's home almost as fast as he did Bella's :BootyTime:

No difference to the story, just to Bella as a character, and her interactions on her path.

And how many years did it take for him to realise that his marriage with Jade wasn't working?

At least around the time they adopted Sage and Tyballs, so that's fair. Still though, these aren't comparable, and in any case I doubt it's all about some sort of B&R conspiracy getting hushed up. Also I forgot, it's actually only been two years since Bella started working here. But I imagine you'll see that as a point in your favor, Bella working at the place James was investigating so she can find the truth.

The debate was if she initiated it. Whether or not she wanted to fuck is irrelevant. MC initiated it, and Jill was legit shocked when he did so. Yes, she went along with it once MC did so, but to say that she didn't initiate it doesn't deny or ignore Jill's development; it's just stating facts.
My initial point is that she initiated the changing room sex and she did, she was the one that invited the MC in and she was the one that asked him to fuck her. Period. It is in the scene. It is a fact.

She was just putting on a front because that's who she was coerced into being by her parents. She is supposed to be serious, prim and proper. She wasn't 'legit' shocked because if she was, she would have put up an ACTUAL front and tried to find excuses instead of going with the flow like she have done multiple times during the game and, even so, we all know because of Jill's own internal monologue during ep6 (I believe it was ep6... maybe ep7) that she does it out of insecurity. So this was all basically a fake front she was putting on like she has done before.

And if you need proof, here you go. The MC was ready to back way after gropping her same as he has done other times, but this time Jill was honest with what she wanted to do:

The comparison isn't fair, no. But it does show Stephen's personality. He is hesitant to take action. How could he trust the hired professional burglar? Switching one loose end for another is not progress. Also since Bella is yet to act on any potential evidence, she might not realise what it is the way James did and a failed theft might be a real disaster.

Okay, this pet idea is holding up way better than I thought it would.

About Bella's secret room, I have two theories:

1) It's an old nursery. Bella's husband was in the military (if we take into account his appearance when MC sleeps over at Bella's house). He is considered MIA and she loses the baby, locking the room forever. Bella and Jill meet in a therapy group and connect over their personal tragedies.

2) Bella's husband returned from an armed conflict abroad, but traumatized, he became addicted to drugs and disappeared without giving Bella any more news. This theory has the merit of tying the drug ring (Vinny, Buddy, Quinn) to Jill (through her sister) and Bella.

But she didn't invite him in. He came in, and she allowed it after some coaxing. Sure, after the fact, she wanted to fuck, but she didn't initiate anything. Im not debating whether or not she wanted to fuck. We know that's true; I'm saying she didn't initiate it, which she didn't.

Okay this guy made me think of something, because that's not James we see when MC is drunk.

It's Stephen breaking into the house, who freezes when MC sees him. But luckily MC just runs away so Stephen manages to escape :BootyTime:
