I still haven't figured out how to add animations to Ren'py. (If any one wants to help me out, I'd appreciate that). So, I'll be doing "stills" until I figure it out. I do plan to add intimate sex scenes, with animations and sounds, but to get the ball rolling again, it will be stills for now.
I'm sure you could find some help/threads in some of the sub-forums or even make one, example Programming, Development & Art

I have tried searching through there. I couldn't get anything to work right or work at all. I may have incorporated it wrong or misunderstood what was explained. I've also tried YT videos and none of them really say how to get them in Ren'py and more unity and unreal based.

Once I get my rig rebuilt, I'll try again after I get some content out.

Well, replaced the broken items and my computer will boot, but won't output a display from the GPU or the motherboard graphics port. I thought with it off, the water wouldn't have caused any issues. I replaced the CMOS battery, tool out the GPU, tried every connection for a loose connection. Nothing doing. So, instead of wasting weeks trying to find out the issue, I just ordered everything to build a new brain basically. I've wanted to upgrade for awhile anyhow. Going from a 2080 super to a 4080 super was on my list the most, and this gave me an excuse to just "refresh." Everything shows arriving before Xmas, so I can build it and work on thr game over the holiday as planned.

Took a screenshot of my order so no one thinks I'm just stalling.

It will only take me a few hours to build it. Windows install takes longer than the actual assembly.

Well, back from out of state. All the computer stuff came in and the last part today (cpu cooler). This motherboard, the CPU pump plug is on the opposite side, from my old motherboard. I checked best buy and local computer shop. No one had a 4 prong extension for the pump cable. I ordered it and it will be here Tuesday. Should be able to start working on the game again next weekend.

I may have to do a bunch of updates for DAZ, Ren'Py, etc. But, should have a good day of coding after, if all the installs go smoothly. Sorry for the delays and thank for your patience!

Well, good news, some bad (only for me). I finished the PC. Everything is installed and running smoothly. 3 of my 5 hard drives must have gotten wet and wouldn't boot. I did NOT lose the hard drive with the game, but I did lose the SSD with all of the renders. So, I'll be rendering all weekend unfortunately. I may still be able to knock out a game update this month, worst case next. All depends on how much I can render out on my Sundays off work.

This new PC build is much stronger than my last, so renders should be a little faster, which may help with the render time.

But, the big hurdles are over. I have a place, I have internet, cheating ex wife is out of my life and my PC is built. Getting back to building the game every Sunday!

I spent the day trying to rebuild the characters. Between the rebuilding the characters from scratch and trying to recreate the same scenes with them took all day for just two characters. This is going to take some time. I underestimated how much time I previously had into the game, and how many hours I had into making the characters and rendering.

It's going to take some effort and time. I will push and get them done. The characters may have slight changes. Just minor details that I couldn't replicate. I'll get them done ASAP.

Or.... This is an excellent chance to tweak and polish, since you're basically starting from scratch anyway. Lay that solid foundation that is going to make future updates that much easier.

Just a thought

I was thinking that as well. I have to re-create each character and scene already. I wanted to fix the lighting in most of the scenes anyhow.

I'm torn because of the delays I had and the promises I couldn't keep before, due to my seperation. I want to get an update out as soon as possible, but I also want to produce a quality update, not just a, "Here is a scene I threw together" update.

It is going to take quite awhile to reproduce each scene and character. You never really think of how much time you have into a project, until you are forced with reproducing it. My game is merly an intro, but there are weeks of creations, tweaking, and generations.

I am going to work on the game as much as I possibly can, not just on Sundays and produce the best quality of updates that I can. Hopefully weeks, but possibly longer.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Getting your rhythm and process back in working order will probably result in a more fluid creation process and speed up your work. Fighting against rust right off the jump will slow you down and frustrate you.

You don't need more frustration, you have an ex for that.

Just another update on progress. Unfortunately no game update yet. I want to be transparent to anyone following along. I know in the past, I have seen developers say, "I'm working on the game!" and not see anything for months. Sometimes they are, and they drop a nice update and sometimes they aren't and leave us hanging. So, I always hated the "unknown" of a game I was following and want to post progress updates to show I am putting in work and not blowing smoke.

I took some advice, always open to constructive critisism. When I first started the game, I was new to Daz and Ren'Py. I am still a "noob", but I feel I am understanding more and more. For instance, this was my first character I made and rendered. You know her as Mia.
Mia_Port.png

I was happy with her, as it took me hours to make her and get her to a state, at the time, I felt was my best work. I was still learning lighting, shadows, make-up, clothing, hair, etc., etc. I've been spending a lot of time making my characters look more.... just better. More natural back lighting, less light reflections, clothes fitting better, make-up more natural looking and hair that isn't so "gel-ed on." So, this is not all I have done, just how Mia looks now. Please feel free to critique. It only makes me and the game better! I'm still learning, but learning has occured! I think...

Mia Intro.png

Her clothes are more contured to her body, not baggy like before. The smoothing itterations are much higher. And so much more. I've spent a lot of time rebuilding all the characters to make them look more "real" or as real as a game can look. I hope you like the new looks and work that I have put into them. I know I haven't shown the others, but they will all be seen in the next update of the game.

I am still rebuilding all of the old scenes that were/are in the old story. Once those have finished, I'll probably work on some new scenes before I release an update to the game. Just so I am not releasing an upgraded version of a 5 minute game, which the haters will chime in of course. I purchased a few more bedroom assets yesterday. I'm hoping to get all of the girls rooms done, incorperated and add a little scenario in each, then drop an update.

Not having a wife nag me all day on Sundays has been a big help to progrees ;)

Obvious progress is obvious... ;)

And they haven't figured out how to add skills and self improvement to settlements yet, so it's a personal win for you with each step you take.

I got home early and wasn't tired today so, I worked on some renders. I forgot how time consuming they are. It's 2am and it felt like 4pm only a few hours ago.

I'm probably right at the half way mark of renders for the old scenes. I'm going to try and add some of the story I wrote while waiting on my divorce and place, into the Ren'Py script while rendering Sunday. Coding portion is fairly fast. I'm not to worried about that. The rendering is the time killer. Posing, moving, rendering, seeing a piece of clothes clipping in the render, fixing it, then rendering again...... Maybe if this game is good enough to sell when I'm done, I'll hire an artist and just write the code
I never did get the "sandboxing" down pat so, I'll probably remove that portion from the script for now and just focus on story and more scenes for the update. I'll watch some videos and maybe have it down with the update after. The only hurdle now is the rendering images and the time it takes. Other than that, it's all coming along as fast as I can build and render scenes.

I finished updating the current story. Not going to post it as an update on the OP, because it's not really an update and I don't need all flack from the complainers. But, anyone who wants to see the revised ladies, the gui changes and some story corrections. You are welcome to take a look. I know the Jenny intro picture got distorted. I'll fix it with the update. But, it's after 4am and I'm beat.

I want to reiterate, this is NOT an update just the initial revision lol.

Quick update to everyone!

I know I said I was going to postpone the whole sandboxing element, until I figured it all out. Well, the story I wrote while I was waiting to get my place, was written to include elements of sandboxing. I.e. progression, time of day, certain stats and requirements, etc. etc.

I was re-writing portions as I was putting it into Ren'Py these past few weeks, to go along with the non-sandbox element but, it's impeding the story itself. Too many changes to make the story flow well. I had a lot written on how the MC's stats and times of day would affect a lot of his choices and actions. The game being "Choice of Fate" and me veering away from choices, seems like an abandonment of the original vison.

That being said; I am working on the game and yes I am researching all of the elements of sandboxing, progression, time, etc. This is going to take me some time. I don't want to just slap in code I found online and call it a day. I want to understand it, to avoid errors later in the game and/or fix bugs and issues on the fly or from reports from you all when I realease updates.

I apologize if you were looking for an update soon. I need to understand this code and how to properly implement it before continuing on.

So far, I have a basic understanding of the code for these new elements. Sandboxing itself is actually quite simple. The part I am still figuring out, is putting it all together seamlessly, without errors and making sure it runs smoothly. Sandboxing without time and day changes is boring and stale. Takes away the ability to feel a sense of progression and accomplishment. It takes away a lot of the want and reason we feel to go further in a game. Increasing stats and getting them to change choices and outcomes of those choices.

If you downloaded the "revamp" I made, you will also notice the download size difference. It was much smaller. I spent a lot of time while I was rendering, cleaning up code and getting rid of unwanted/un-needed pictures, sounds, code, etc.

I can rant on all day about all the little tidbits of information but, all I want to express is, I am working on it! I'll keep you all posted!!

Another quick update. I didn't have to work today so, I've been learning.

Got a lot of these mechanics done. Had a blast learning these lockpicking, success rates, breaking items, chance to get caught etc. That gives away some of my ideas there :devilish:.

This being so fun to write, the game just got 10x harder :D. I'm adding so many cool little mechanics to the experience!

I really hope you all enjoy this when I drop it. I'm having a ton of fun writing this game. Although my fingers are cramped. It's a lot of code...

I'll keep you all posted!
