The moment I saw the scene where she's posing for those pictures to make money, I knew people were going to get an aneurysm. I personally don't care if she did become a hooker, and I hope the dev, if he does indeed intend to release new updates, doesn't give in to the pressure and change the story line. Till now the game is great and he obviously knows what he's doing so I would rather he stick to his own vision than listen to people here and change anything.
Although what's more likely in my opinion is she was selling drugs or something like that. The MC doesn't seem to have made his money by selling paintings either. Iirc he says that painting is just a cover.
Anyway, I would rather the dev not deviate from whatever he has planned. And if he is forced to for some reason, I atleast hope that he doesn't completely abandon his current vision, whatever it may be, and go some other way. I hope he makes two routes for people who don't like the real one. Although it will only be increasing his work load and making the game will become even more of a chore than it is now.

You should care if you're invested in the story. It's nothing stated officially, just some hints dropped here and there, but she probably abandoned her kids for 7y to become an escort. He stole the money from his aunt, who could be a mobster or at least mobster's wife given how scared he was that she'd find him, but Lora doesn't look like she could pull that off. Even if Lora wasn't a prostitute or something shady like that, there's no excuse for completely abandoning both the MC and Sheryl for 7y, unless the dev wants to pull a Leap of Faith secret agent shit on us... but even that can't be used as excuse.

I'm kinda scared about the big revelation, but the dev should tell the story how he wants, see how ppl react to it, and then do some damage control so that both him and his fans can be on the same page. Constructive criticism is also feedback, he should know that ppl like his game if they bother to criticize it or make speculations, which means he does a good job on the writing front.

Yeah, exactly what i thought when i saw them. She looked much better before. Her boobs look like he made them in a hurry with low quality, and her face looks too different, not even close to what i loved about her, honestly she kinda looks ugly. Maybe i am exaggerating but this is way below the quality of this game, and lets be honest the quality of the renders was the only thing that kept people interested in the game, despite the long time between the updates.
Maybe it will look better in game, hopefully.

As for a lot of single mothers being able to provide for their children without having to prostitute themselves, you'd be surprised by how many single moms are on onlyfans trying to make ends meet. The economy is truly terrible and it's even worse if you don't have a good education. It's very difficult to make ends meet.
I am not saying she became a drug kingpin. Just that she could have been involved in smuggling.
And it could also be that since MC's aunt is rich, she thought that the MC would lead a much better life with her than with his own mom anyway. So she just left because she couldn't bear to have the MC lead a shitty life because of her fault. So she just gave him up and left.
But this is my final, and most likely theory. Bear with me. She realised that what she was doing with the MC was morally wrong and so she wasn't strong enough to stop it if she was in close proximity to the MC so she gave him up.
If you've watched Chinatown, the way I felt when watching that movie, it's the same way I feel why playing this VN. Like it's hard to get out of your head. So I really want to see where the dev is going with this and not change into something generic because of patron pressure. All I am saying is, whatever he has planned, it may make me feel good or bad, but it sure as hell won't disappoint me. Like a sad movie may make you feel bad, but it's not disappointing.

To "protect" him from such thoughts or from doing something they both would later regret.
I know, but storywise, Lora's situation is placed in a decade when computers were seen as some SF shit. Nowadays a lot of women make ends meet by posting content on OnlyFans, sexy pics on IG, "modelling" for some creepy (AND LUCKY) motherfuckers, or fuck knows what else they do to make money, especially single moms are forced to do that due to this damn pandemic and their baby daddies' lack of concern about their own kids. Lora's situation on the other hand is different, she could've asked for financial support from her ex-husband, or she could've let the MC stay with his dad 'till she had a stable financial income to support both him and Sheryl. What she did was really stupid IMO.
I dunno. She knew her sister hated her and looked down on her for some reason, the MC even commented on that. IMO, MC's dad and grandma were the better option. And even if she was afraid they would talk shit about her or even forbid her to see the MC and make him hate her, she accomplished that herself by abandoning him, so she's in the same shitty situation she would've been if she went for the 1st option.
That's the most "delicate" scenario that could make the players see her as a mother who made some mistakes but one who's worthy of a second chance. We need to hear her explanation first tho. As of yet, the hints dropped by the dev and her financial situation heavily point at an "easy way out"... she abandons the MC (probably Sheryl too), thinking she protects him from those impure thoughts but fucks up big time by scarring him for life due to him feeling abandoned and betrayed by his own mom, the most important person in his life.

This is what pisses me off the most about those long-ass delays, ttll has a potential masterpiece here with real drama, realistic characters with flaws and feelings, not the usual "my son has a big dick, let's see if it can fit inside mommy's cunt" bullshit, very good renders, but he keeps delaying those updates for fuck knows what reason. Ppl voice their disappointment coz they love this game and its story, and want to see how events unfold.
