to be honest from the latest previews it seems to me to have gotten worse

Will there be animations after at least a year in the next update?

Even though the rules on this forum are different, in my opinion, games that do not release an update in a long time (say 6, 8, 12 months), should automatically be put "on hold" regardless of what the developer says. I think this makes it easier for newcomers to immediately evaluate the state of development of the game. "On hold" can always go away once an update has been released or there is STRONG evidence an update is going to be released soon.

perhaps it could be good to have something similar, or to add a new tag "snail-pace" or so, for a slow development phase/games.
the last part of your proposal is not good though - to not debate the term "strong indications/evidence (about anything)", it would be better to just drop that part - WHEN the update is out, "snail-pace", "on-hold", "aboned" tag is removed.
