Savin has many talents, character arcs thus far hasn't been one of them. I just hope more big moments that change Kas perspective don't continue to exclusively happen off screen.

I think its more the old problem: he and the team don't really want to write anything dark, or any kind of corruption.

What grinds my gears is that the arc already EXISTS. It's not like I'm complaining the story should have gone in a direction I made up; a solid arc is in the game!

Hero is inexplicably drawn to big bad evil demon. Evil demon taunts and threatens hero while enjoying the chase. Hero struggles between duty and feelings. Further complications arise when the Hero gets a glimpse of what Kas was/could be (which works for both a hero already romancing and a hero that hates Kas).

Savin already has the outline. Heck, he said himself about Calise that she is the intended on-boarding point for the Kas/romance redemption arc for most heroes because he doesn't expect most people want to romance big bad Demon Queen Kas.

Except it's not working because there barely ANY friction. She's supposed to be soulless and incapable of love, yet almost immediately she starts behaving like a girl with a crush. She wants to conquer the world and remake it how she likes yet, yet this barely gets a mention in favor of dates and visits woth your kid.
She's doing horrific human experimentation in her basement, buuut it's just used as an opportunity for a BDSM sex scene. The narrative never focuses on anything Kas does wrong, just briefly mentions it and immediately noone cares.

The player should feel guilty and conflicted about romancing Kas; yet most of your companions are just like "go get 'er, Champ!"


There's a solid skeleton of an interesting arc in place and it's just constantly downplayed and brushed to the side for more Kas waifu moments.

I've said before that I think Savin is the best writer on the team and I think if he wanted to he could actually do justice to this part of the plot; but he just doesn't seem to want to.

Honestly the first time I played this game I wasn't truly on her romance route. It didn't feel right for my mc to sleep with the unknown demon while she was under the influence of the portal explosion. It wasn't until I encountered her Halloween date when I traveled the forest that made me go all in on the romance.

Honestly I don't know why Savin thinks people wouldn't romance the poster child of the game. They haven't done anything in the story that makes her seem like a truly evil person. I know that she's done messed up stuff but I just can't really care when fucked up shit was going on before she arrived. These writers don't want to touch dark themes so they've done nothing to make romancing her a hard decision. Your companions don't leave you, you don't doom an area to destruction/corruption or anything negative so there's literally no reason not to romance her. You get to date the "big bad" without feeling bad about it.

Take Evergreen for example she's shady but not enough not to like her. These darker characters seem to be better received than the kitsune den even tho their greatest sin for the most part is being mean to the mc and I hear alot of grumbling about them.

I think the main problem is that the devs what to make a light hearted porn game that upsets no one so they don't build up the horrors of the world properly. Everything is so oversexualized that Kas' "corruption" isn't impactful. The orcs are rapists and slavers but that isn't given the weight it should because that dark content would upset the payers which will just lead to more retcons.

think its bc he didnt(still doesnt, who knows) see the "dark" things kas did as flaws, caits sex cult, or the nonchalant self righeous seven; just the catch-all "dubious". he cant/wont explore the nuance or dichotomy of these moving parts because he didnt see anything wrong, he thinks its all grey. but the aversion of corrupt characterization to me confirms he thinks himself pure, and the offscreening of kas' perspective shift makes me feel he only had the realization of chicanery afoot himself while writing act 2 and haphazardly covered his tracks. otherwise writing in the character development would require he face himself which i dont think hes done.

Sometimes it feels like one of those flashgitz warhammer parodies, like, the breeding pits full of imps and monsters and the cult kidnapping and corrupting everyone on their wake ends with a sexy orgy so the darkness is there, but doesn't matter that much when your maximum corruption means turning a bimbo species into bigger sluts or that cute dog girl into a slutty domme dogge girl

You have horror stories like that chick from the frost woods being dragged away by imps and barely escaping, her friends all of them gone, and the ones she finds alive are now demons, now that's a cool detail, but then you perv on your maids and your guards

The one time they wrote about slavery being something bad was to spite that Hildur guy because he dared to dream with a catgirl harem, orcs and minotaurs meanwhile raid and pillage each other but only to bang the other team, or make them cooks

Then some other guy says all content is under resources/apps, I check there and I find the content. I edit Cait’s dialogue and it shows up in the game, no issues.

If there are no mod tools for this game I’ll just port my mod tool I made for COT to this game and start making mods. First thing I’m doing is changing all of Cait’s dialogue so that she is much less slutty. At least in the early game. I’ve been trying to get back into this game, that was one of the main things stopping me.

I hope I can find a way to add some darkskin girls like Merielle and the purple haired cat chick as companions too. That would be a plus as well.

All the content is in one location though. It seems like you can make significant mods. I don't really care about gameplay mods right now, I just want to rewrite characters and add some interactions.

Iirc, it was never "unmoddable" and more of Savin&Co intentionally sabotaging their own code, to make modding as annoying as possible.
Most mods for original CoC were doing stuff like dedicking/removing Urtha and/or attempting to finish the blatantly unfinished characters like Helspawn.
Savin really hates mods (how dare these filthy modders touch his perfect futa OCs!?) and has seen it as personal attack when people made mods for CoC, so they completely outlawed mods on fenforum, and do their everything to stop people from making mods for CoC2.

Funniest thing is checking old forum posts and seeing how Savin went from "Here's a thread for your mods and stuff" in 2016, to this in 2020:

Any mods made with my modding tools is update proof as long as the dev doesn't mess with code (just like any other game). So you can have mods that will never need an update, and other mods that will need a little more updates, especially when modifying content that is still being worked on (just like any other game).
