That's not what is being referred to here, it's more party banter and dynamics. Companions basically dont talk to each other and they really should, which is what Savin commented about.

I'd welcome some periodic Tales style skits tbh.
Yeah having the companions interact more would be great. Having different ones show up during the Ryn date at the Winter City was nice. Touches like this make a game world feel alive.

Bet to this day they wonder why overpowered drunk bum, katana blade fox, and「FARMER」are not popular characters despite two of them having a really, really sad background story, and the other being a bland harem protagonist without a harem

Didn't they talk about CoC3 being a visual novel?, I mean, now it's not great but we still get to do stuff with relative freedom, with a visual novel that's over and besides that, there are other visual novels with the same setting, they would get rid of the one thing that makes the game a better option than others, our failure at immersion PC stumbling through Savarra while being fucked and interrupted by less interesting people

At that point just call it dragon elf date and wait for the cursed abandoned tag, because CoC2 as it is at least walks, and sure it's slow and half the time it goes in circles, but it walks. A visual novel in their hands is a mess no one needs
Ah, shit, Cait Stay/Whore is gonna be a thing!

It'd probably be for the best if they went into VN work anyway, then they wouldn't need a protagonist they themselves didn't come up with.

Why does this sound so ominous?
It's Savin and his crew doing introspection. Given their environment, the shock would be if the result was somehow absurdly good.

Out of curiosity, what do they see as flaws?, what's their self evaluation about their own game?
"Not enough futas!"
"My OC wasn't shown as cool enough!"
"The salt mine stopped giving salt since 2022!"

Ik, adult Kinu is what I was referring to. There was literally no reason even to spite those who wanted incest. Leaving her young woulda stopped that unless they planned to move the whole biz to Subscribe Star.
Can confirm, it's where they lost my goodwill.

The more things change~
The design doc has most of that including streamlining TFs. Maybe they'll stick to it this time. Or maybe go all the way over and eradicate TFs since they practically don't exist in this game anyways.

People didn't like inter companion stuff, which in Savin language is, "have NPCs fuck NPCs." which is why they got yanked out of all the loss scenes to begin with.

Hmm... On posting that I had a thought.
Maybe this time Savin makes the game he wants to make with all the themes he wants to make absent the CoC name.
Dunno why I feel it but I think they'd still use the name as a crutch. It's not like this game failed economically or anything, people still pay for it and all. And if they can get away with some of the stuff we got on this, I think they believe they could get away with worse on a sequel.

That would be neat. I do think they have some talent for comedy if they give it a shot, way better than the porn at any rate.

Next game, companions are going to be limited to staff and cut down to 5 or 6 so they get more development. Also, there will be more actual interaction between companions - Savin mentioned he's already written some thoughts for fun interaction between his companion and some of the others planned.

Savin has thought about making the next protagonist more defined, instead of a blob, to make them easier to find a voice for.
"Huh, that sounds reasonable, maybe Savin&Co CAN make a good gam-"

Tobs planning to take another crack at a Princess-Maker type raising-type of character though.

Transformations will be less of a focus.

B will write yet another disabled furry!

What there *won't* be, however, is a more structured writing process - as far as I can tell Savin is of the opinion that letting people write what they want is the reason they put out as much content as they do.

I want the baby momma drama from CoC1 back. Stuff was comedy to me. I know folks might prefer all this instant harem acceptance and kumbaya handholding. But some friction and jealousy adds to the fun. Nothing like some good ol fashion "now who is this bitch?!?" to really get things going.

See, that didn't really work for me. They all showed up, all dressed up in the same place...and then didn't talk to each other.

That should have been a group event where you all shot the shit for a bit over everything that happened, and then you peel off your chosen partner and hang out.

It did always feel kind of weird how disconnected the PC's party felt when at the tavern, just everyone off in their own little corners doing their own thing only really interacting with each other when they're having a threesome with the PC. They all have mostly postive things to say about the other companions but never interact giving that sense that this isn't a team brought together to fight evil and bond but just a group that only stick around because they know the PC.

Honestly a lot of the same stuff you'd think.

Tobs mentioned that theres some things he doesn't like about how Kiyoko and Kinu were handled. Kiyoko wasnt originally going to be his companion - it was going to be a bird person or Garrett(!). I think he's planning to take another crack at a Princess-Maker type raising-type of character though.

Transformations will be less of a focus.

Of course, all of these things are far off speculations. Not only is there a whole 'nother Act (so 2-4 more years), they'yll also do a big cleanup pass of a lot of stuff for 1.0 (so another 1-2 years imo).
Meanwhile Xianxia of CoC1 continues to be more fleshed out than both CoC1 and CoC2, with more lore, mechanics, characters and most importantly things to do with the aforementioned characters. Like an actual romance system for several, with favorability flags, from my tiny experience of it.

To put it simply, CoC2 will just become another TiTS, where the gutting of wanted content, addition of unwanted content, endless dev and writer circle-jerks, and unwanted character propagation/wanted character assassination are commonplace.

Kiyoko just sitting there in silence while the rest of my companions are socializing is peak "why did you bring me here?, I don't know anyone" energy

It's time to accept that Savin was blessed by a higher being, we can only speculate who

I think we're talking about 2 different events. I think you're talking about the celebration(that Kas can attend) that happens at Ryn's coronation. I'm talking about the date from Ryn's menu if you talk to her after she becomes queen. Yall can go on a date in the city and meet different companions doing some sightseeing depending on where you select to take her on the date and which companions you brought.

Not much of a monkey's paw. The decision is either no children with her or one child.
In games like this, I would prefer if you could have 1 unique kid over multiple ya never see. I'd be cool with multiple kids if you are helping rebuild a pop like you did with Amily but half the time it's just numbers for the sake of numbers, the PC in these games wasn't the Phoneixes or sand witches so it didn't matter.

Got nothing against either.

In one hand, it's nice to have children that you can put a focus on. Raise them, play with them, bring them into adventures against the local fauna, that sort of stuff.

On the other hand, you can't make a soccer team with only unique children. And I'll be damned if I can't singlehandedly produce a team to win their local Sunday league!

To be fault, you could if an event was written for you being a man/herm who Knocks up everything. If you want some drama & cute interactions that would be a great source too when the babymamas talk shit to each other while the kids have fun.

Ay yeah, that's makes sense. I'm actually not sure if I've read through that to this day. Need to do that.

It's a tavern! The fact that we can't just sit around and drink and chat is crazy.

In my opinion, in any game with a party, a bare minimum baseline is that you should know what every member of the party thinks of every other member of the party, without explicitly asking (and it's embarrassing how many full fat games don't even reach this low bar.

And it's not like they didn't already write out most companions theoretical relationships with other companions!

Brint thinks Berwyn is fun to tease and very protective of his hat (back when you could ask Brint about Berwyn iirc)

What kind of sociopath writes that down and then doesn't immediately write a scene of Brint playing keepaway with Berwyns hat while the bratty dog yips at him?

The kind who keeps such a note to himself, to later use it to provoke both Brint and Berwyn into tearing eachother's throats out.
