Correction... Just because she is not real on the simulation, that doesn't mean she not exist in the real world of the game. Val has already explained that. Mostly of the sims in the simulation are based on real persons. I am just not sure if the real Lilith is how she is on the simulation. More yet, I am not sure if she will even recognize the MC when the game story is over, unless 1Thousand do the plot to reach that.

for ppls in sim what happens is real since they don't know that they are at sim so therefore she did cheat her hubby.
that depends if there is connection between sim and rl or what happens in sim stays in sim. val wasn't supposed to have rl counterpart but that got changed. all we know that zhine created that sim but does zhine-sim know that it's a sim or not is unknown or are his family real or created for sim.

Let's summarize this (again). People in the sim are not real: all of them (bar MC, Nina, and Liam) are NPCs created by the AI. But, of course, for these NPCs, everything happening in the sim is their real life and they react accordingly - so yeah, sim's Zhine will be angry if you fucked his sim's wifey and/or his sim's mistress, and if this angry NPC kills the MC in the sim, the MC dies for real.
All of these NPCs (or, at least, the most important characters in the sim) are based on actual living people from the real world outside of the sim. According to the established lore, these people are totally unaware of what's happening in the sim with their replicas, so they won't recognize the MC if they ever meet in the real world after this sim ends. So, for instance, there's an Hector Zhine out there, but chances are he has never met the real Lilly in his life; and if the MC ever meets her when this sim is over, she won't recognize him.
Therefore, the Val character we can see working with MC's boss is the real person the Val character within the sim is modeled after, but she might not be aware that she is being replicated in the sim - or, being an Aegis tech, maybe she knows, we'll see about that.

And what's the purpose of the sim again? Getting a password from Zhine who is not based on the real guy?

The real Zhine was the AI designer. He made it so that it couldn't be exploited by Aegis, creating a security mechanism (the Executor) that can't be disabled unless agents manage to get a password broken into pieces and hidden in the AI's core. Those pieces may arise during sims, linked to some replicas of real people, so the security mechanism pursues agents in the different sims if it detects they are snooping around too close to those pieces of code. After some undetermined number of missions, Aegis has retrieved all but one piece of code, and they managed to determine this last piece could be found in a sim where Zhine's facsimile is present as the main antagonist, so they set that sim up and sent MC and the others in there.
