I know that no one is playing this for the plot but no, you cannot infact convert kcal or joule into watt. Why is this? Joule and kcal are units of energy, while watt denotes Power. Watt is Energy over time.

I don't work on the game so I don't know the exact details but right now the main developer is working primarily on adding content to already existing characters for existing sizes to better flesh out the story. There are currently three characters that have 2 or less stages as well. Based on that it'll be a long while until the game is complete. The next patch is slated for March/April if you're subbed to Patreon, last I heard. I imagine we'll be getting a few more patches to fill in character development before we start to get new sizes and based on current workflow, it'll still be years before the game is done. Patches are a few months apart and the developer also does patches on their other game The Gain Trials between every few Fattening Career patches.
TL: DR Long time away, but the developer is active and the game gets updates at a reasonable pace.
Currently it's supposed to be sometime this month but updates always get delayed at least once so we shall see
calling it now we're getting the next update delayed until May
