That would make sense if the reality of FL's kink granularity was that it truly was a piecemeal "choose your own kink-venture" experience. In the FL trilogy, it's true that you could choose whether a kink was your thing, but that granularity was not extended to the "taboo patch". If you had the taboo patch installed, then you would never have the option of seeing the non-taboo version of the routes that had checked for the patch. If you wanted to use the patch for one particular route and not the others, that's not an option because the devs went all-or-nothing for the taboo patch.
And when the "blackmail story change" situation went down, the taboo patch would've been the only way to play the original storyline if I hadn't seen that the "antagonist mode" variable was separate from the taboo variable in the patch update. Unfortunately, that's no longer even the case in S&M, as the only mention of the original FL blackmail storyline are locked behind a singular taboo patch that continues being an all-or-nothing situation.
