I have a question I have been thinking about for a while now, did I misread Mason throughout the whole game until chapter ten?

I mean during his sex scene you can let him take control, and it looked like he knew what he was doing but I also think he's the most timid and shy LI in the whole game or was that just first impressions?

I mean, Mason isn't exactly stranger to sex. But at the same time isn't used to being the one in control, since people usually order prostitutes they paid around, than follow their orders. So it wouldn't be odd that Mason is normally acting submissive even though his actual preference seems to be elsewhere. Or am i misunderstanding the question.

Mason is probably shy around strangers , so his initial acts come off as timid, once he feels more comfortable, his attitude towards sex with the mc changes

And according to Neon it's going to change again because right now, he's trying to pay MC back with the only "currency" he thinks he has. He's still afraid of ending up back on the street. Once he gets more comfortable, he'll start setting boundaries.

Basically I'm wondering is it out of character for Mason to take control in the bedroom?

Ohh. IMO no, it's more of a something that Mason wasn't able to indulge in, but it clearly gets him off if he's given opportunity to do so. Perhaps this strong reaction is in part because he wasn't really given many opportunities to be the person holding the power in a pairing.

I think it's more the "timid and shy" thing that is his defense mechanism more than actual character -- Mason gets considerably more self-assured in the latter part of the chapter, e.g. when lecturing Guy on the darwkweb hacking.

Well, it's Neon's character, so however Mason acts is technically in-character :p But, it didn't feel out of character, to me. Just felt like we're getting to know things about the LI.

Reminds me of how people also thought Viola might be acting out of character in the clothing store, but.. you could pretty easily chalk it up to her being more comfortable around the MC after he helps her, and stepping outside of her timid shell; or just being more comfortable in general when she doesn't have to worry about her disgusting landlord anymore. Maybe the author wasn't planning some of this when he first wrote the characters, but as long as you can comfortably reach for a satisfying explanation, and as long as it's internally consistent with the character he's written thus far, I think it works. When we can't do either of those things is when we have a problem. :geek:
