VN Review - Ren'Py - From the Sin [v0.10b] [Vorpal]
I'll try to be as honest and sincere as possible. From the Sin has an impressive start, and every now and then you come across a visual novel that feels like a breath of fresh air. This game fits that description, being of high quality and relatively unique within the genre.
Story – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The plot is well developed, with a lot of attention to detail. In simple terms, the story revolves around an MC who is freed from a scientific facility by chance and ends up being collected by a group of adventurers.
The world combines fantasy and science, creating a vast and mysterious universe, inhabited by monstrous (furry) girls and beings beyond human comprehension.
While the MC tries to understand his origin and purpose, various races across the continent fight for survival, as Mana is becoming increasingly scarce.
The presentation is a bit cliché – a protagonist with the role of saving or destroying the world – but the difference lies in how the story is told.
Art – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Simply perfect! All the characters were modeled with Koikatsu (Illusion) and CharaStudio, resulting in top-notch art. The female characters are well-made, and even the MC is handsome. The game immediately grabs your attention due to its impeccable visuals.
Audio – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The sound design is well done, with sound effects (SFX), music and ambiance, which makes the experience more immersive. Silent games give a feeling of incompleteness, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that this game didn't neglect the audio.
The only problem is that the audio seems to have a passive role, as does the MC's personality (but more on that later).
Worldbuilding – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The fusion between magic and science is well-crafted, creating an intriguing world where neither element overpowers the other. The game's universe has the potential to be expanded even further as the story progresses.
Negative points
Now, let's get to the problems...
1. Forced NSFW scenes
This is by far the game's biggest problem. The MC/player doesn't seek out the lewd scenes; they simply instead are just shoved in your face.
Out of the four adventurers, Eris, Lily, and Linea all have lewd scenes with the MC that feel forced and lack proper context or relationship development.
For example:
Eris and Lily’s lewd scenes are justified by the need to "stabilize the MC’s mana core"—basically an excuse for them to jump into his pants immediately.
Eris gets inside the MC’s underwear on the first day they meet—seriously?
Linea’s scene is slightly different but still forced—she sits on the MC’s lap, gets him excited, and that's it: leading to another non-consensual lewd scene activated.
Worst of all: there’s no option to avoid or skip these scenes.
I dislike forced lewd scenes, and the way they were implemented here is a major red flag. The MC barely knows these girls, and within days, they’re already all over him? Where’s the buildup? The relationship development? Also, in all these lewd events, the MC acts like a lifeless doll for the girls to play with—there's no real emotional depth or engagement.
If the dev intended to show that the MC is being "molested" by the adventurers, they succeeded. Maybe that wasn’t their goal, but either way, there should be an option to skip these scenes. forced lewd scenes is never a good thing and will drive away a portion of the player base.
2.MC’s Lack of Personality & Passive Role:
Another major issue is that the story uses the plot itself as an excuse to limit the MC’s decision-making and personality.
3.Overuse of Black Screens for Text:
There are too many black/blank screens with just text. I get that they’re used to show the MC being unconscious or transitioning between locations, but there are far too many instances of this.
While the overall sound quality is fine, the audio design feels too passive—just like the MC. But the biggest issue is that the MC doesn’t speak during lewd events!
From the Sins has great potential, but it still leaves something to be desired in some crucial aspects. The game has an interesting story, a well-built world, and incredible art, but it fails in points that detract from the overall experience.
The 3/5 rating comes from the following factors:
✅ Positive points:
✔ Impeccable art – Visually, the game is one of the best in the genre.
✔ Interesting worldbuilding – A mix of magic and science gives it a unique touch.
✔ Good soundscape – The use of sound effects and soundtrack helps the story.
❌ Negative points:
✖ Obscene and forced scenes – No consent or option to skip, which can save many players.
✖ Extremely passive MC – He doesn't make decisions, doesn't react, and is treated more like an object than a character.
✖ Excessive black screens – The constant use of text on a black background takes away from the immersion.
If the game gave the player more autonomy, allowed the MC to have more personality and fixed the problem of forced scenes, it could easily reach a 4 or even 5 stars. But, as it stands, it is stuck in the middle ground – a visually impressive game, but one that may frustrate those looking for more depth and control over the story.

2.MC’s Lack of Personality & Passive Role:
Another major issue is that the story uses the plot itself as an excuse to limit the MC’s decision-making and personality.
- The MC wakes up from a deep sleep and is taken in by adventurers. Sure, he has no knowledge of the world—but that shouldn’t make him a passive doormat.
- The game overuses the story as an excuse to keep the MC weak-willed and overly submissive.
- The dynamic leans heavily toward female domination (femdom), and while it’s not fully there yet, it’s starting to rub the wrong way.
3.Overuse of Black Screens for Text:
There are too many black/blank screens with just text. I get that they’re used to show the MC being unconscious or transitioning between locations, but there are far too many instances of this.
- Instead of 20 slides of text on a black screen, why not show the MC in bed, a landscape, or even characters walking?
- Even a simple render of the MC’s thoughts would be better than staring at nothing for so long.
While the overall sound quality is fine, the audio design feels too passive—just like the MC. But the biggest issue is that the MC doesn’t speak during lewd events!
- He just sits there like a sex doll for the girls to play with.
- Some actual dialogue or reactions from the MC would go a long way in making these scenes feel more natural and engaging.
