All good points, as most games tend to forget their path or main objectives. For the past several days, as I debated whether I should continue the development of Gates Motel, I created a small PDF game breakdown to conjure up ideas and organize my notes after researching numerous games that worked well or went wrong. The game is still in its early stages of development, but I am taking notes from feedback and supporters to find common ground that all parties can enjoy and respect.

As mentioned, I have attached a PDF file for others who are potentially interested and want to know more about the game. I have broken down everything from gameplay, characters, setting, inspiration, kinks, and much more. Feel free to read through it, but I must warn you that some things might change before the final game is released.

To address some of your concerns that I haven't included in my PDF file, the game will not be a kinetic novel, as I truly believe that player choice matters. It especially won't be a sandbox game, as it introduces too many objectives for the player, such as jobs, money, time of day, special day events, etc. I'm aware that many people are not very fond of those types of games, and to be frank, neither am I. Much like the people around here, I find it very grinding and it misses the point of an adult visual novel game. To answer swiftly, we are not Rockstar Games and have no interest in making sandbox games.

Great advice on leaning away from Patreon as you have mentioned how many games get canned with having incest, and yes, the game will have incest. I do know that some games quietly swept incest under the rug with such writing as "landlady" to avoid Patreon banning them, but I will seek other alternatives.

As for development time, I do realize it is far too early for me to say this, but I will seek to the best interests of players and fans alike, that we will attempt a speedy development. There are no promises as renders do take time as well as fixing bugs, though I will agree that some games take too long for an update. ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ Milfy City ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ. I'd be more than happy to have more members on the team to achieve this goal, so once again, please feel free to support us by any means if you have the skill or are still learning. Looks promising, but I’m worried about the wide range of kinks. Please, for the love of god, don’t turn the game into yet another haremish bullshit with 20+ one-dimensional LIs just to tick every tag. From the PDF, it seems like you already have more than enough LIs: mom, big sis, lil sis, trap bro, asian, hispanic, ebony. Creating seven (+MC) interesting characters is no easy task.

Maybe I'll explain the 1st part of this ... ;)
It's kind of private bad joke with "Jack Beauregard".
Jack B is a character of a movie named "My name is Nobody". It's a western (Jack B. Henry Fonda, Nobody : Terence Hill) . Where Nobody is a cowboy who is faster with gun than anybody else and, once in the movie, there is a tale tell about a little bird.
Well, you have to know that movie to understand...

Anyway, I say it again about Aexier and his project, I do think that's a good idea and Aexier is a quite devoted dev that I'd like to see more here. (y):love:

I believe I have already answered this question, but the kinks are tied to different choices and paths that players choose. To make sense of it, in order to streamline speedy development and enhance narrative depth, players will choose one of three predefined paths—Evil (Corruption), Neutral, or Good (Redemption)—at the start of the game. This decision locks in specific characters, locations, and storylines, leading to distinct experiences and preventing mid-game path changes. The Evil path delves into manipulation and domination, the Neutral path offers a balanced yet morally ambiguous journey, and the Good path focuses on redemption and emotional depth. With this structure, development remains efficient, ensuring a polished experience while still providing meaningful choices and eight unique endings.

It originally was going to feature a karma system in the game but that ultimately got scrapped quickly as it would require me to track and adjust values and making sure that players condition checks locks/unlocks characters and locations. As a fellow member here mentioned above that the game should focus on 3 paths instead to which I listened to their criticism and altered the game structure.

As for amount of characters in the game, there will be a handful of characters, but only on certain paths the player chooses stretched across 6 chapters in the game. Players might bump into other characters from different paths that they aligned with but they won't interact any further, prompting player intrigue to try the other 2 paths they didn't try before.

Some of the tags mentioned above could feature a fraction of that on one character. For example, a big-breasted chubby Latina who enjoys footjobs, squirting, and anal, or a redhead milf fem dom who enjoys humiliation, spanking, creampies, urination, and exhibitionism. I don't know if I should spoil it any further, but the harem tag is only on a certain path and is not featured in others. Not everyone in the game is thirsty that doesn't mind the competition and only want the MC to be a part of their lives.

Now everything sounds almost ideal. I’m still not a fan of a large cast, but that’s purely personal preference. At first, I thought it would be like 90% of other games: three routes for the main LIs and MC, plus 20+ side LIs with binary choices about whether to see scenes with them later.

And here’s a simple example of how not to design a three-route story The way (not sure if you’re familiar with this VN). Essentially, it’s three loosely connected games with a shared beginning.

It will be interesting to follow this project.

But please, if you are using Gates Motel as any sort of inspiration at all, please make the girls hairy as in the original. Or at least allow for the option! It was sort of a core aesthetic of the original game and would be a terrible shame to abandon.

That sandwich board picture was a little hard to read but I am still around and check in every now and then. I am making progress but not enough to give an update. It's slowly coming together. I would like to share whatever I can but I also want to preserve my soapbox moments until I have some huge updates to bring attention to. For now what I can say is that things are looking impressive each time I start my day to the end. I'm incredibly happy with how things are going so far and would be thrilled to see you all enjoy it as well. I would like to open up more details but please be patient until then.

I really can't remember much other than hooking up with some birthday girl only for her to leave, and someone gets kidnapped. I could play it to refresh my memory, but I'd rather prioritize building the game. I'll take a look soon to see what were the issues as I was planning that each route has a shared opening. For now, can you provide more as to why you think it failed to have a good 3 different route story? Was it just bad writing, bad cohesiveness, forced outcomes?

And to answer some of the comments above; yes the women will be hairy. Some women will be naturally hairy from the beginning and players are given the options to trim or shave their body hair/pubic hair to fit their preference. Different strokes for different folks.

I really can't remember much other than hooking up with some birthday girl only for her to leave, and someone gets kidnapped. I could play it to refresh my memory, but I'd rather prioritize building the game. I'll take a look soon to see what were the issues as I was planning that each route has a shared opening. For now, can you provide more as to why you think it failed to have a good 3 different route story? Was it just bad writing, bad cohesiveness, forced outcomes?
The author bit off more than he could chew. All three routes have a completely different vibe and development.

  1. You prevent a kidnapping and become a cop. This is a 'good guy'/detective storyline. 60% of the game's content.
  2. You and your sister are kidnapped and then escape. Thriller/slasher and healing storyline. 25% of the content.
  3. Only your sister is kidnapped. Depression and self-blame. 15% of the content.
In theory, it sounds good, but it's too much work for one person. It required different sets of locations and different characters (or the same characters with different personalities). The writing wasn't good enough, but that's not the main problem.

Seems to happen to most Devs around here... They usually work alone and are in the majority of cases way too ambitious, especially when they do this as a side gig.

Only a few manage to get enough financial support and momentum to allow them to recruit some help and even then, it's not a guarantee of a successful development...

I've accepted now that a 90% of the games I've actually enjoyed here will never be completed.
