Ren'Py - Harem Corruption [v4.0 Fix2] [Akihiru Harem]

Note: I don't believe a complex opinion can be properly represented by a number, but I do understand some people are impatient, so I don't use the star system normally. My ratings are as follows: 1 don't recommend, 3 unsure; please read review, 5 recommend.

This is a first for me, I haven't yet been forced to contemplate the moral qualms of using a pirate site to play porn games as opposed to paying for them, until now. This game has given me pause for thought and made me conclude that I should throw a few bucks to the people who make good games that I like/recommend, even if I can't afford to be a monthly subscriber I should still "pay for the game" as it were. I think I'll start with literally any other game besides this one.

So Harem Corruption, what's it about? I don't know, I'll level with you reader I downloaded this because I thought it would be a quick burst of energy to the finish line and then I could come back and try it more seriously when I started a new race. So I skipped through most of the dialogue and story to get to the hanky panky which never came, pun intended.

Gameplay? I would describe the gameplay as clicking your mouse a lot. Now you may be quick to point out that "clicking your mouse a lot" can describe most ren.py games and honestly most games in general, the difference, dear reader, is that this game makes you click a lot for no actual reason other than to waste your time OR pay the developer on patreon. Oh, there's that other shoe, how'd it get on the ceiling fan? The way this game works is simple, you talk to a girl, she falls in love, and you repeat this a few times until you are locked out of her route. Then you need to increase her lust stat to continue. how do you increase her lust stat? You talk to the demon elf bitch and give her money which she exchanges for power, power can then be used to increase lust stat.

Okay well, what's the problem? The problem is that to get money you need to do one of 4 jobs, each job pays different and the only one available for the nonpaying scum is the lowest-paying job. It goes from 100,000$ to 10000$, to 5000$, to 300$. For reference the first chick I tried to romance needed 20 lust for their first main event, to get 20 lust I need to spend 30k$. Now 300$ to 30K$ isn't that obscene, you just need to click and skip, a lot. You also need to have been paying attention to the ever-so-erudite dialogue because you get quizzed on it, multiple times, and getting the quiz correct is important because that's how you unlock the actual fucking scenes.

I think what gets me the most is the fucking audacity. The sheer amount of games I could list with better graphics and gameplay would exceed my fucking word count. I wouldn't be pissed about the dev just wanting to get paid for their work, but to do it in such an intentionally scummy fucking way? Creating 2 currencies that exist solely and entirely to waste your time, locking content behind quizzes only to charge extra for "Skip tickets" so you can play the game as intended. All that for these 2009 lookin as models? Go fuck yourself, and the horse you rode in on...

If you're a seasoned f95zoner, you may be looking out for that Patreon code that unlocks the Patreon content. Unfortunately, the developer has set up servers to track the codes in real-time, making it so you need an "Active" code that you send to the dev, and the dev can confirm. The community created a workaround a while ago that worked, but as of this writing, it doesn’t anymore.

I also need to tell you about this developer's other games, why? Because they’re both identical to this one. Of the three. Harem Secrets, Harem Idol, and Harem Corruption, Harem Secrets is the best because it’s an actual game you can play as opposed to a product designed to take your money. Besides this small factor though the 3 games are pretty much identical. The intro is the same, the music, the way you navigate the map, and the backgrounds of the map are different but it’s the same style of map in all 3 games, the models are the same just with different clothes. These games are the obscure porn game website's version of asset flips. They’re all terrible and should be avoided.

I am gonna end this with a letter to the developer.

Dear Dev,

I understand that you want to make a lot of money without putting in much effort, But you’ve already put in a significant amount of effort so why not just make a good game that people will like and recommend? I mean it isn’t exactly easy but your audience is the easiest to please. Case in point, people are giving you money for this trash, imagine how much more money you could make if you made a game people wanted to play, a world where people gave you money solely because they liked what you made and wanted to give you money? Wouldn’t that be nice? No? Fine then, we’ll meet again when you get to your 4th “game” because this one didn’t work either.

Maybe this game is the developer's first attempt to build a game, which should be somehow respected.
After I have done this now, here comes the game:

This is so bare-bone and ugly, there is nothing for the eyes to keep me interested.
The "story" just doesn't seem to be there, but something like a free roam on a map, with different women waiting for you to click on them, scroll through redundant lines of text...and then being forced to grind even more.
That's right. Ugly UI, unnecessary grind and no story.
And to make things even worse, there's advertisement for patronizing this dude all over the place, promising less grind/ sped up progress. Extremely bold, just as if the developer was fully aware of the tedious gameplay.
This is no game.

Overall, the game is good, but I mostly like it because of the female characters. I find them very attractive—sexy, cute, with curvy bodies—and there are plenty of waifus and girls in the game. I mainly play it for that reason.

The story, however, is just okay and could use more improvement.

I want to give 4 star, but i think it just too much for this version of game, will change later if the game have some improvement.

I enjoy the female characters and the concept of the main character being surrounded by many girls who like him. However, I wish there were more adult scenes, like sex and other intimate moments. The gameplay is simple but requires time.

I hope future updates add more content and more waifu characters. Right now i give only 3 star

Maybe it's unfair to rate a first release quite after it's been published, but i think this time it's not only justified, but also recommened.

The game is, despite it's mediocre characters and renders, just frustrating to play.
And here i am not even speaking about the engrish text, but more about the horrible grind (Typical sandbox issue).
But wait... some people might WANT to grind senseless for hours to get some reward - that's right. The main problem is, that here the "reward" is reaching paywalls which cut out all the content you might expect after grinding through.

Unless you are a masochistic pimp who likes to be left blueballed, i recommend to skip this one and never come back.

1st time reviewing a game in early stage game is definitely trash lots of grind grind and grind nothing new here and the grind will gonna kill you, I think this one is paywall, nothing is good here even characters every time looking at camera I don't think it's even understand where are they looking every single time they are looking at camera it's really weird and annoying, I don't think it's even deserve 1 star but still giving 1 star for nice renders that's it everything ends here.


And also can't wait fro 4 or 5 stars fake reviews XD

there are no real positives to this game but it at least runs properly so im giving it 2 stars

negatives

lazy half assed storytelling that skips anything resembling exposition or introduction

engrish that rears its head a bit further in the game. it starts out feeling like an effort was made to have good translations but then you realize dev was just lucky and things fall apart after that

all the girls look nearly the same just with different hair no diversity of body types

obvious money grubbing from dev by putting things behind patreon paywall. this is especially bad considering theres almost no content so demanding players pay to see what little there is comes across as greedy

the lack of content is so bad its an embarrassment. dev should have spent a lot more time creating content before trying to release this. right now calling it bare bones would be overstating things

dev seems to want to run before he walks and keeps putting out half baked garbage and then expecting immediate financial support for it. focus is so heavy on him making money that hes doing everything right if he wants to guarantee that never happens

this will be abandoned within 3 months
