Look, I agree with you in part, but I think it's valid to charge even more in a scenario where so many devs rip off supporters, maybe in a scenario where we didn't have so many half-finished games or games that claim to be complete, when you play you clearly see that they lacked polish or were rushed, I think it's valid for CONSUMERS to charge, otherwise we'll become cattle that only serve to give money to those who don't offer a valid product.

Most games abandonned by devs are due to a crackdown by Patreon shutting down many devs. These devs have a hard time getting back on their feet, if ever as in most cases, Patreon was their main source of revenue and it is hard to get supporters to migrate to a different platform like subscribestar

it's explained simply, what I'm about to say even has a specific title... I forgot it... it's about replacing motivation with money. For example, you have an unpaid hobby and then suddenly you start making money from this hobby. And if you lose that money, then with the loss of money you lose the hobby, because the money reward has replaced the pleasure of the hobby so you dont have any motivation.
You're talking about a subset of the population that only does the most convenient support option available. Patreon is there because it offers recurring donations via paypal(my assumption).
