It was more that you said meant. I don't really like when devs tell me who I should romance or who is the most important, otherwise I'd read a kinetic novel, but I'll never touch one of those.

Kinetic novel does not have choices and different paths, i dont think its fair to compare this with a KN. Nowhere did DB mentioned who you should pursue, you are free to choose that yourself.
But DB being the developer has complete right and control over who according to them in "Their Game", would be a LI with the most importance. Its their story who they wrote and came up with, and they wrote MC & Charlotte as destined lovers or fated lovers with the story specifically crafted for that through their backstories, anyone who plays the game will come to the same conclusion with how the story is written, even though charlotte is not the only lover, you can freely choose Emma.

That's a bit heavy handed, but does explain some choices in game design early on (also it was pretty obvious to me from jump so I'm not upset by this revelation, every author has their story they want to tell).

* I kid, I kid. All paths are superior to Charlotte's, yes even Suzy as psycho as that path is/will be.

† Literal best girl. She's interested and interesting. She's available and not a man hater. No games (okay minimal games), no drama (okay a little drama), just a healthy, stable (so far) relationship.

‡ Probably also a healthy route, so far it's a no strings fling, no drama, no weirdness, just a good looking woman interested in a good looking guy. Literally all three Loyd women (not counting Lucy) is an unhealthy drama bomb...

(Yeah, I get that Charlotte is meant to be a "heal her" path and all "emotionally rewarding", but I a- don't have patience for that and b- don't like her looks. It's a personal taste issue.)

I'm a Charlotte fan, and I see her as basically the "default" path, so I can understand that people say it's supposed to be "Charlotte and MC". But if that was the case, as you mentioned earlier, why give any choices at all? Emma is a perfectly valid choice (and of course, I have a save for her), so don't listen to those who put you down for picking her.

I hope you don't actually mean that last bit, because you are definitely welcome here, at least by the majority.

Don't think of it as a canon path so much as a less insane one. Fucking your boss may be sketchy but fucking her sister, her rival, or her daughters is a one-way ticket to the unemployment line. None of the relationships are ideal, but from the WOG of the creator of the VN they see one of the particular relationships as the ideal one. Naturally it happens to be the one that frustrates, vexes, and bores me the most. I guess that is more of a commentary on relationships in general.

Joshy, I think you're misunderstanding the dev's post. He is in no way attacking you, and he isn't saying Emma is not a valid LI. If he felt that way, then she wouldn't be an option. Emma is a darling, and she will mature into the LI role if you want her.

The "natural relationship" with Char is because of their shared history, shared enemy, shared trauma, etc., not the dev saying she's the canonical choice. It may be his favorite choice, but he's writing them all. Enjoy what you enjoy, if it ain't hurting anyone.

up to boss if she wants to fuck her employee, sister makes her own decisions. charlotte is retiring from business and kaylah will be new queen, if daughter really loves mommy's employee then why would she object it?

The romance with each love interest loosely follows a different romantic trope. Charlotte's romance follows a 'fated lovers' or 'destined love' trope, meaning she and the MC are 'meant to be together,' and their characters and backstories reflect that. However, you are not forced into a relationship with her.

In contrast, Emma and the MC follow a 'forbidden love' trope - they are definitely not meant to be together, but they can still pursue a romance.

Each romance is unique and offers something different. I didn’t mean to imply that one is more important than the others.

I agree, I would fully expect the dev to have their personal favorite characters. Ask any author, and they'll probably be able to tell you their favorite and not favorite characters in their writing. It's just the way it goes. Doesn't mean the other paths won't be good, excellent, or well written, just that you might notice a few extra "brush strokes" in the storytelling for the favorites.

Look at most of the other good AVNs like this one, and you can usually guess which are the author's personal favorites.

Some of us may not love Emma the way you do, but we still love Emma and we respect your love for Emma.

Yeah I mean I may not understand loving Emma , like her fans do as her character just not my cup of tea for a few reasons. But I always liked her in the story even if parts of it were a bit boring to me. As I always felt Emma's character is an important part of this game if you romance her or not. Without Emma I don't think the romance and nice moments with characters like Lucy or Charlotte would be nearly as good or impactful at times.

So anytime I see some actual hate or dislike for Emma I never understood anything beyond criticism. That is also something I felt was a little unwarranted too as I always felt the criticism around Emma's character has also been a case of needing to wait until it starts to fully develop. Which is why I do intent to attempt to give her path a try once her character develops and matures some.
