I really don't like criticizing art done by others (as I have no skill at all in this field), but there is something that bug me in the Murella portrait.
She's very cute, but she doesn't look like a very shy young girl anymore. I don't know how to explain why, it's just a feeling.
In fact with the 2 new portraits, I feel like Selene is more shy than Murella.

Hmm well, this is interesting, but since you aren't sure what it's making you feel this way, i'm afraid there's nothing i can really do about it.

About the only thing i could think of were the anime tropes for eye shapes influencing your perception, but i fear tweaking it doesn't make much of difference at the resolution of these portraits:



In any case, i feel that the game itself makes a convincing enough show of portraying Murella as a shy girl, that a quite generic portrait doesn't really have enough power to contradict. But, well.

She will. But it's unlikely some girl in the middle of the street would just spring an interest in her, at least openly, of course. Not in a society like this. It's not a modern world.

I didn't know if you have planned others lesbian/bi encounter.
But it's exactly what I was thinking. These kind of relationship must be kept secret. If Selene meet such woman, this woman won't jump on her in the open. The one who make the first move must be sure that the other is open to have a sexual relation with another woman.
Because if it's not the case, the whip is not so far...

I wonder if those aren't her eyes.
I think that her gaze is too direct. Like if she look you straight in the eye.
In my mind, I think Murella would look down a little when spoken to.

I have no idea, but for what's worth she's looking straight at you in her original portrait, too:



If it didn't bother you before, it seems weird it'd become a problem now.

because it is lower in detail

if you make something that looks HD, people will "read it" as being HD and with more intention put into it, it is two different standards

It's a factor, but mostly in regard to filling the blanks, not outright overriding features which are pictured. If you have a face simplified to a people aren't seeing that as a frown, or as someone looking down, or giving you a side-eye.

I think you got it Eveniures.
The original portrait are drawings.
Even if the new aren't photo-realistic, they are still more realistic and more detailed.
And I think it's why it struck me with the new and not the old.

Anyway, I understand ffive if you don't want to wast your time with that little detail.
Of course I will be very upset because everybody should fulfill my every request, and I will throw a big tantrum... but only at my desk, not here, because I don't want to be banned from this thread.

If any of the experts here can help me out? How many main characters can our protag sleep with as of the last update. By main characters, I mean the character must be part of the touring crew. So Chat and other characters in early chapters don't count. As far as I know, the PC can sleep with Io, Cadonis, Mer and that's it?

Yeah, no problem, you have the right to ask. As gds21 said above: you can have sex with Iolenta, Cadonis, and Meralion. For "secondary" characters, I'd say Barnabas and Lasander in the village at the start of the first chapter (it's harder with this latter because he's a married man, but it's still possible...). And later in the game, there's also Chat, the big hunter fella which is one of Lynis' slaves.

Mm-hmm. I also wouldn't mind voice actors, motion capture, full animation of everything and for the whole thing to be in 3D. That would be awesome. Oh, well.

Yeah, sure. As soon as I figure out how to pay next month's internet bill and what to feed the cat, I'm going to immediately look for a billionaire investor. This wonderful person will buy me Larian and I'll finally force Swen Vincke to make really hot sex scenes xD

Sorry in advance, but I truly don't share your opinion buddy vessna. Why then?&? It's relatively agreed: I consider that the main work is done by (and for) the text, process who precisely allows the imagination of the players to be triggered, because I think we will all agree that the images presented here, are in fact an auxiliary element. Then, this game is one of the rare ones that allowed me to cultivate my prolific imagination and I would also add that this is certainly well enough to satisfy me. Yes, one simple thing as you can see, but which nevertheless; (I strongly suspect) is probably not convincing enough in order to arouse the interest/the investment of most members of today's adult gaming community (partly vitiated by the AI arts, by the way)... This is indeed one of the major reasons who is made me decide to support the development of this promising game. Anyway, I really hope that Defiant Explorer will continue in this path going against the tide of our “beautiful modern era”!+!

i was wondering if anyone would be interested if i drew selene. i'm not a fan of ai and i want to practice art anyway, so i thought it could be a good idea. attached is valatean selene naked and with one of her dresses on for proof of concept. lemme know your thoughts ( i may do other characters as well if ppl are interested)

finished my design of the costume, how do you guys like it? gonna start working on the other versions of selene next!
