"Fuckton of frustrated fans" That he himself created by not delivering the update he himself said was coming. No one presurred him before HE failed to deliver.
You have a lot of people to defend, try not to defend teary.
I'm not trying to defend tbf, mostly just going "oh this is probably why"

I still believe that there is a large group of people who subscribe to someone on Patreon and then never check their bank statements or emails ever again, paying until they finally realize something's off a few years later. I can't explain why certain Patreons are still performing this well otherwise. Well, for Teary, I believe this is the first time he ever truly disappointed. Hopefully he can recover.

A lot of people here are missing common senses.

So... Let's say I pay a guy every month to build a house. Then, I keep paying him every month, up to 3 years. He doesn't inform me of the progress, the expectation of delivery. He just simply says: "You know... I need to be silent while working. I will tell you whenever it's done."

Do you still think that this is ok? If yes, then I'm sure you do have a problem with your mindset, mates...

True, as evidenced by that completely dysfunctional generalization of an analogy.
1. You didn't hire shit, a shady middle man who doesn't even bother to draft up proper contracts did
2. The pay wouldn't even reach minimum wage post tax and the cut that the middle man takes (or even without the cut)
3. You're characterizing yourself as the employer when you're most likely barely even a couple percent of the pay they're getting
4. Officially speaking, nothing in Teary's reward tiers promises any release dates or time frames (right now at least, don't know whether it ever got changed), only access to the product, news regarding it, and barely relevant bullshit to pad out the higher tiers
The most appalling thing about your statements is you expecting anyone to care. If a moron invests into a meme stock at its peak value, I'll laugh. If a dumbass buys crypto and gets rug pulled, I'll laugh. If an idiot pays for the promise of a product and keeps paying for three whole years despite getting shit all, I'll laugh. Why would anyone pity you, especially so on a site that attracts the exact kind of people that are most averse to the risk of contributing funds to inexperienced gamedevs? I personally never paid Teary a cent, so I only ever heard about the estimates he gave from second or third hand sources, but, even assuming that information to be 100% correct, it's still a fucking estimate he half assedly gave on Discord, and nothing official. Estimates are not enough to hold you legally viable for shit.
Even disregarding all this, I don't even know how any law would deal with the fact that, while his Patreon promises access to the game, he literally links this very source for the game as a free one in his Patreon description. It would be more accurate to say that Teary's building a publicly accessible facility with an entrance fee. However, there is a free entryway to said facility as well, one so open that it shares the exact same doorway as the paid one. The only difference between the two entries is that, if you do decide to take the paid one, you'll get a free sticker, voting power regarding what this facility will focus on next during its renovations, and a pamphlet. That's it.
