SO.. MUCH.. WORK:
I know I've said something like this every week recently but I really can't express just how much work I still have to do on this list lol ^_^
I think I'm gonna end up having to cut content from this patch and leave it until after JP is finished up to get this thing released in any reasonable timeframe. It saddens me to do it and I haven't really thought about what exactly is on the chopping block but it's never ending.. xD
Gonna hammer on for another two weeks and then assess the situation fully. None of Sharon's content can realistically be cut because if I cut part of it then the rest doesn't really work. The same is
sort of true for Exhibitionism content but I can cheat it a little by using some placeholders and reusing CGs. It's not a perfect fix but I do have a responsibility to release something! If you guys weren't eagerly awaiting a patch, I'd happily plough away at this Exhib stuff for the next 4 months probably xD (I'm just having lots of fun with it lol!)
Sharon / Exhibitionism Crossover:
Been working on another scene that has Exhibitionism requirements this week, it's the first event that actually features the Neighbour; "Hector" as more than just a peeping Tom. This is part of Sharon's new series of events and will continue beyond what's in this patch. A lot of Sharon's content is framed in a sort of competitive way between Sharon and Lisa. At the start of the game Sharon urged Lisa to be more liberal with her sexuality and much of the content is Lisa
showing Sharon how liberal she's becomes all the while Sharon's constantly pushing Lisa's boundaries. It's built to be fun, silly and even a little absurd with music to parallel and hopefully capture some of the early game magic again.
Creating this scene has been
extremely slow because I can't batch render the CGs. It just won't work at all so I've had to render them while I'm at home / awake meaning I can't work on the next CG until it's finished rendering. Each CG is taking 10~minutes to render and most of the final CGs consist of 3-5 renders so it really eats away at my productivity (c'mon Daz, give us update 5.x!)
I will also quickly mention that Lisa's pool has changed. The green hue the other omitted when any amount of light was shone on it was so off-putting that I felt the need to change it as opposed to editing the green out in post for every output render. The pool I ended up choosing is much nicer and it has the bonus feature of having little underwater pool lights that will come in handy no doubt

The only downside is that the asset itself lumps the pool stairs into the same mesh as the pool itself and the location of the stairs is different than before. The tiling and stairs also share the same texture so it sadly can't be changed so there will be some inconsistency with older CGs but I don't think that's too concerning honestly ^_^

I do hope that this patch isn't frustrating to anyone because it's really the first patch in Lisa's history to be released without at least one big, meaty scene in it. Usually the things that I'm adding to this patch as it's main substance are the things that are added as a side. Instead of having a main course this time, you're really just getting dozens upon dozens of side dishes lol. Of course I've thought on this for a while but I am still worried about it's reception because it is a lot different than the regular schedule though it will be roughly the same size (CG count) as the regular updates ^_^
Replayable Events:
I've slightly upped the complexity of replaying some events in this patch. To this date replaying the few replayable events in Lisa has been basically "You've already seen this scene. Skip?" Or something to this effect.
I'm trying a different approach with a few of the events in which replaying a scene that you've already seen will play a
new CG or two that are in line or similar to the scene you watched the first time. This is just to break up the monotony and reward you guys for checking it out a second time.
This idea started with the Train CGs in which sometimes a full scene will play with a certain Exhib level. This scene can't just replay randomly again and again or it'd be extremely annoying, so new single frame CGs will replace the events.
I dunno how much sense I'm making here, it'd be a lot easier if I could show you but HOPEFULLY I got the message across lol!
Incoherent ramblings of a teetotal Irish lad:
Been chatting to many of you over the past couple of months specifically about the game's story and whilst this is an adult themed game, it is also an extremely detailed story and that seems to be resonating a lot more these days as more of plot is revealed which has been both relieving and unbelievably gratifying.
I've seen many developers come and go over the years, especially Western developers.
I've often wondered about the reasons for which they stopped. Did they lose their love for the craft? Was is not lucrative enough? Did something happen in their personal lives that required all of their spare time? Probably a mix.
I also wonder if some of these developers ever felt trapped in a way. Locked into making something they lost interest in as many of them have disappeared without a word. I'm curious about these things because I can't really relate to it. The only time that I've felt even remotely like stopping was after a slew of unfortunate events and admittedly, poor choices. Regardless of whether it was making a game or something else, this particular series of events would test anyone's resolve I would think so it's notable but not noteworthy. Even if I had taken a break, it certainly wouldn't have stopped me forever.
I've loved making Lisa for myriad reasons over the past 4 years and I genuinely cannot picture a world in which I don't finish the game.
I've thought on this topic for a long time, starting very early in development because if there were pitfalls along the way, I'd wanna know about them and avoid them but I haven't come across any yet and I think I've had
plenty of good reasons to stop.
I wonder if the reason I'm so compelled to see it through is because of my love of the story itself.
How do authors reflect on their work when they're writing it? Do they fall into it completely as I have? If that's the case then would other developers benefit from having a story that bolsters their product instead of using the game simply as a cart built to deliver nsfw content? I'm not pointing the finger at anyone or saying there's
anything wrong with a porn for porn's sake game. I'm just outlining that my devotion to the game, I think, is because of how I feel about Lisa's story.

Every aspect of the development process is a joy, mostly. Even what might seem mundane is always pleasurable in a way because, unlike my job,
it makes me think. I'm always entertained by the challenge. Whether I'm crafting the next CG, brainstorming ideas, figuring out legalities with the help of AI or organizing timelines. It's all so engrossing, and therefore, rewarding.
It's
so addicting to me that I've given up basically every other hobby I had because I'd rather be making the game. Is that because the dopamine I get from effectively
working is greater than that if I were playing a video game or enjoying sports with friends? It must be, right? ^_^
Then I'm graced with the realization that so many of you get enjoyment from it too and the immense fortune I feel for all of it is
really humbling x
I just write books in these update posts.. xD SORRY! The weekly stream of consciousness went off the rails again ^_^
Anyway, the patch is moving, albeit a little slower than I'd like. The CG count is nearing 400 and I'm getting a little clearer picture of how big this patch is gonna be by the time it's ready but without any exaggeration, I could
easily have made it 3x bigger with room for expansion in future patches.
There is so much to add in Exhibitionism. Lisa's only really started exposing herself or at least getting a little more comfortable in doing so but maybe that's fine for now. The hardest part of Exhibitionism as a stat, was getting my foot in the door in the first place and we've achieved that
