It's like in the OG Sonic games, you have to collect all of the chaos emeralds to get a true/good ending, although in my book the bad ending is actually the best, lol.

Kinda confused. I beat every level, minigame, etc., and freed all the NPCs, and I got a bad ending? Is there not a good ending yet, or did I miss something?

You can beat it on level 7 there's a arrow on one of the petalstools you don't just fall off you have to jump and attack mid air to land on a invisible platform

Nope,

It means that in your Paks folder you don't have the assets for the game. Openbor works kind of like emulator where in paks you have different roms of games to play. So if you don't have anything in paks then you would need to download the game again from the link.
