v0.1.0 review.
Mind you, I don't give out a 5 star review lightly. But I weigh into account the version number, and this is the first outing and it's already better than some games that have been in development (and milking patreons) for years.
First of all the art style, yes it's AI, accept it or don't play it. Because what is there is breathtaking and well crafted. The art style is consistent across the game and fits with the theme. I've seen top rated twitch streamers playing 'standard' games that have AI that is less well-executed.
The game play is the only spot where I MIGHT ding this, as the mechanics feel a little bit pointless at this early stage. But that's a really hard thing to judge for such an early game. What is in play works, is functional, is an ACTUAL GAME, and has a lot of promise. I really hope to see an expansion on the mechanics so it doesn't just feel like I'm playing any cards and they don't really matter what. One card per turn doesn't allow for a lot of strategy and there's a reason why most deck builders stick to the 3 energy per turn with cards costing a varying amount of energy.
Finally, the writing is sublime. Sexy and to the point with choices that allow for your personal tastes in the sex scenes, and AI art to match the text. Really well done.
I will be adding this one to my watch list and hopeful that future versions come out in decent time, because this one seems like it might be a winner.
