I found a fix for running these games on Windows 11 specifically.
I've been troubleshooting this for about three days now, and it was driving me mad, tried every single thing, nothing worked.
But, this worked:
- [Japanese Language Pack]
Download Japanese Language Pack in Windows
language settings --> Add a Language --> Japanese
Let it download
Restart the pc once downloaded (this restart can take some extra time)
2. [Change System Locale]
Language Settings --> Administrator/System Locale for programs that do not support unicode --> Japanese --> Restart Computer (it forces a restart here)
This makes programs on the computer use Japanese locale by default for programs that do not support unicode, eg. Majikoi games, so Majikoi will NOT need Locale Emulator or similar, this is an important step.
This will not change the language of your Windows installation, it will still be in your main language, but Majikoi has an easier time talking to your system, can write save data in Japanese and functions without crashing, since your computer now "speaks" Japanese with it.
3. [Extract/Install game]
Now,
Extract Majikoi A Plus Disk Using JAP Locale (Your new Default) If done correctly, your .exe files should have these names: まじこいA-1, まじこいA-2, まじこいA-3, まじこいA-4, まじこいA-5.
4. [Compatability mode, Win 7]
VERY IMPORTANT,
Change EVERY.exe file to run using Compatability Mode for Windows 7, they WILL NOT LAUNCH UNLESS YOU DO THIS.
5. [Launch the game(s)]
Spam the .Exe(s) for the games (Select game .exe (eg.まじこいA-1) , I Press Enter to launch (it is faster), DO NOT USE ANY LOCALE EMULATOR OR SIMILAR, or it will not work/it is not needed due to steps 1 and 2.
THERE IS NO NEED TO WAIT FOR IT TO LOAD ANYTHING, JUST SPAM ABOUT EVERY ~ 1 SECOND UNTIL IT STARTS (takes 5 seconds to like 2 minutes depending on your luck)
6.
Have fun reading!
Note:
When not playing, it is okay to revert back your system Locale to your main language, only when you wish to read these novels, do you need to change it back and restart.
