I am not getting it but i think i forgot something.

So, i want to make a hole in a door. Any hole.

I tried the geometry editor in DAZ but i am incapable to make a hole with this tool.

My asset comes from X3D bathroom.

Everything looks fine in Blender. Hole made, shows up but when i import it to DAZ, its covered. DAZ seems to paint the surface over it. I like to keep that surface but not sure if i need to edit now the surface texture or if i can export it via Blender.

Please see my examples and please tell me, what i forgot to do.
Thx.

Its there but as i selected the asset, it's seem covered. Doh.

In the shading tab it looks perfect.

Thats a bad hole :D
I am not using blender, but if the door is made up of multiple polygons (subdiv plane). check that the normal's are pointing the same direction.
Could be a issue with the normal's. i am just taking a guess here tho.
But it wouldn't take much effort to fix this or do it from scratch again.
a plane + a cylinder with the boolean..

Usually, its pretty easy in Blender to make some alterations in some DAZ assets.
This time though, it drives me nuts because i don't know why it didn't work.

Normals you say. I have to check that.

Is that demonstration in DAZ?

Why would anyone want a big hole in the door?? Imagine just sitting there in the bathroom and someone sticks their arm or something through! That would be so weird.

1/ Map of Opacity (Cutout).
or
2/ Before transferring the file in DAZ split the object into triangles in Blender.

This problem is because DAZ does not accept quadrangular polygons correctly.

Why not simply use an opacity map?
Take a minute and avoid messing with the mesh.

Open your asset, select the mesh, switch to UV view and take a screenshot.

Crop your screenshot and open it in PS/Gimp and make two black ellipse :

Clean everything except the two black ellipses and export :

Use your freshly made opacity map :

My rescue. I will try that tomorrow as it is already late here.
It looks very promising.
I just need a freaking hole. :D

Well, you could use for the ass or something else. Just imagine the imagination possibilities. Endless.
Never mind, i just carved a size. It didn't matter. Its the most beautiful hole ever.

I noticed that something weird happens when i applied the modifier. There is some tripod backed in. Sort of. Perhaps thats what it is. Daz can't do anything with it and you got no hole (or cut out).
