No, the September 2023 release is coming in 4 days.Wow! And this game had a good amount of content too. I played it over a year ago
and came back expecting a few updates. Shame cause I thought it was pretty good.
I see he still has some diehards paying $$.....crazy!

Usually I'd say an update per month is more than fine... That is, if the dev has been consistent.MArch 25th and not a single update on Patreon
In this case I think you're right, and the dev could've generated some goodwill and trust by providing a weekly progress update.
