Others - Completed - Midnight Castle Succubus DX [Final] [pixel-teishoku]

Honestly very glitchy. While it certainly seems to be a well designed castlevania game, with similar level design, enemies and movement, the ungodly amount of glitches in this completed game makes progress a fight against your own controls and game instead of any challenge the game could throw.

Sometimes the attack and jump buttons swap, upgrades aren't always applied when brought and gods forbid you die, because there is a real chance to get softlocked, requiring constant saves.

With a few bug fixes, a few frames before skeletons throw out bones or another indicator before they attack and the ability to remap controls, easy 4 star.

At least the concept is unique.

Midnight Castle Succubus is a castlevania-like game where you, as a beautiful demon hunter, is tasked to defeat the succubus in her castle and, after that, follow up the search for special items in the expanded map. The game is very much similar to the original Castlevania, pixel-wise and combat-wise. As you progress you can purchase some upgrades, attacks, eventually you get better movement, and get to explore a huge map and a second one that are fairly linear, but dotted with secrets, twists and turns. The combat is very simple, you either attack or avoid attacks, cautiously not touching anything. Following the Castlevania style you get special weapons to throw at your enemies at cost of money, something bad at first but not a problem mid game. The bosses are very unique but simple, forcing you to learn their short attack patterns and deal with it. If you know your way well, this game may take you only two and a half hours as per online videos. Its homage to old Castlevania is also its biggest problem. The game is very slow. It takes a lot for you to get decent movement, and with a castle layout like that, it is painful. The game also has a very bad long travel system. You find some unmarked gates that will toss you around the map, and if you do not memorize the location of them you will have a bad time trying to figure out which one leads you to where. My personal problem with it was with the castle layout. I think this is one of the worst designed castles in a game like this. The majority of the rooms are a pain to traverse, added to the constant back and forth to find the boss, the key, the imprisoned maiden, makes it even worse. You will need to go through the same places many times over, but not in a good way because you do not have a fast travel system nor decent movement. That quality on itself hurt the gameplay significantly. But the biggest problem is the scenes. Since this is a hgame anyone playing it will expect to see content. This game has almost nothing to show you. It paints itself in a hentai picture but it is one of the most mediocre games in this genre. You get just some static loading screens and a game over static pixels. It is shocking how bad it is. Maybe it’s to allow its safe mode that you can select. Since it was such a letdown in this department, added with the annoying castle layout and the over simplistic gameplay trying too hard to copy a game very old that was made that way because of time limits, I do not recommend Midnight Castle Succubus. But I do recommend Castle in the Clouds, the follow up to this one.

My god is this game good! You can see the love and effort that went into making this piece of art. The graphics evoke such a great deal of nostalgia and the combat is actual fun. It can be hard at times but man is it rewarding when you get those beautiful scenes!!

I'm rating this as an M for Mature instead of an A for Adult. Why ? Because this is not a game to fap on. This game is based on an old school castlevania game. The graphics and music are in low bits. Ain't nobody gonna fap to this in 2022 lol. If i had to rate this game *as a porn game*, i would give it a 4.5/5. However, if we put the sex content out, this is a fantastic game! If you like retro games like Castlevania and want to have that nostalgic feel, play this! This is a must for any CV enthusiast. Simple story, awesome bgms (had to pause the game for some of them), fluid controls, unique upgradables, can morph, good game time, great atmosphere and more! I only give a 5* to games that deserves it and this one does. Two things that i really enjoyed in the game: First, the option to have multiple companions (not just a solo run) and that graveyard cursed town. When i saw the people's true identity in that town i told myself, this game has depth and i like it. Even if MCS has very low porn excitation, the pictures and sprites are looking pretty good ngl. I strongly recommend!

The problem with this game is the same as always. What do I want to say? Well to start previous installments already offer the same as this game and if they are justified by saying that the coins already have an end. That does not make it a good game was removed an option of the previous ones made it good. Why should I die to unlock a scene? It is very basic the battle system there is nothing new and the maps although they are great something that is appreciated is not that with 8 bits it makes it something magnificent,

This is basically a love letter to many NES games, with some porn on the top. It's classic Castlevania, but done 10x better. And as a bonus, you can see some pretty great smut pixel art. Will surely buy it on Steam as soon as possible.

It's more of a fun game with some tits on top, rather than an H-Game with some gameplay inside. It's just an old-school Castlevania game. Try it out, buy it on Steam (or here, if you do not want it showing up in your account).

Long Version:

Pros:
+Really fun. The map design is pretty convoluted, but pretty good. I did get stuck in the later half, going in circles, but I feel like that's more of me being dumb. I think.
+Graphics are good. It's pixel graphics. You obviously know that, if anime/pixels are not your thing, well... Yeah. Bosses are pretty detailed.
+Controls are good. Placed on keyboard. It's simple enough that you can easily get used to it.
+Plenty of variety. Just like in Castlevania, there's a variety of sub-weapons to use. Though, the cross that tracks enemies and the bomb are probably the two most powerful items, so...
+H-Scenes. Pretty good. It can look a little bit weird at times, but honestly, I do believe they're pretty serviceable, if you're interested and fine with pixel tiddies. Also, press H many times on the main menu to unlock the gallery, temporarily. I don't remember how many times; just keep going till it unlocks (or it might be IN the gallery. It switches between Libra Heart's games, so...)
+Quite a bit of variety in bosses. They are also decently hard.
+It's pretty long. Maybe 3-4 hours of gameplay? Maybe more?
+Music is pretty good, actually. The boss music is pretty good, NGL.

Cons:
-Pretty easy to softlock the game. If you die, and pause the game... Yeah, gotta quit out and play again (unless they patched it in DX version. I played the older version).
-Once you get Succubus form, it pretty much outclasses human form in every way. Base speed is faster, the fireballs just do more damage. You jump higher, etc. Of course, human form will have sprinting and stuff... Also, there's a glitch where if you start sprinting, crouch, and transform, you maintain sprinting, but with Succubus' speed. Again, at least in the old version.
-It can get annoying to try and 100% the game. If you're a completionist, sure, go ahead. If you're a casual goer, good luck getting all H-scenes. Not that it's impossible, just annoying.
-H-Scenes are pretty limited. Mostly, if not, all are rape & vaginal. Maybe a gang, maybe not, with beasts and whatnot.

Overall:
Good. It's a really fun metroidvania. I'd actually buy it on steam, if it wasn't a hentai game. I'd even leave a positive review there too. But, well... I'm not going to, because, well... Yeah. If you're looking for actual gameplay, yep. This is the game, here. Play it.
Looking for hentai? Well, take a look. If it suits your tastes, spam H on the main menu, until you hear a noise.

Well, well... Now Libra Heart came for Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest and improved every single aspect of it. I really like Metroid/Igavanias, and this is a solid one. Of course, it isn't perfect it has some big flaws, but overall, I had my fun.

Too few enemies are actually female, most of them are generic and forgettable, c'mon, if you gonna make a Castlevania hentai, at least have all the enemies females.
Game Over Rape
Low scenario variety, it is a forest or cave or castle or plains. And this game is big, it gets old pretty quickly.
Almost no backtracking, teleports doesn't connect with previous ones which make backtracking boring if you forgot something, but rarely you will need to backtrack
And the biggest one. The Sex. Almost non-existant. You see images of the girls you rescue during load screens when you are getting near them, but barely any text and the load in my PC is too fast, one second, maybe two, I can't even see. And you have the game over rape, which I think are random, but then again, one image, barely any text and that's it, ah the monster was always the same mudman. I like Libra Heart, but seriously, they need to hire a writer for this, in this game it is even worse than the others, and it should have about 60 scenes according to the gallery, but I couldn't care less to find them.

As I said, the game is decent, it worth your time, but too far from perfect. One thing I didn't get was why it says the developer is pixel-teishoku when this is clearly Libra Heart's Succubus Series? Libra Heart even appears in the credits as the ones who made the graphics.
