Unity - Abandoned - Milky Tides [v0.20] [StudioMilkBowl]

Fantastic game.

It's got a nice gameplay loop, great models and animations, plenty of quests and it's fun. You can tell a lot of effort went into this game. The UI, interactions, economy system, management, it's all there.

After getting tired of the same Ren'Py VNs this game scratched the itch of wanting to do something other than click and much more.

Dialogue leaves a little bit to be desired, but that's about it. It's a shame this is abandoned, because it really had potential.

Great game with great art, except the moving around part... It's like walking around drunk and on one leg; it sucks.

However, what matters most is the gameplay and the artwork! And damn, it's good.

Not too easy, not too difficult, and fucking rewarding =)

Hope the game keep updating.

Moving around is kinda sucks but the story and content is good enough.

I hope the developer doesn't abandon the game. I think he doesn't earn much from Patreon.

MC doesn't need a face. The game could have just been POV, at least scenes.

The game is great as it is, but the following things would make it perfect:

• rework movement, allow teleportation to all key locations ( there is no need to manually walk every where )
• adding more fetishes. I imagine BDSM with a jungle girl would be nice, taming her.

Now this is how you make a harem game it's Amazing and fun im really exited about this game's future it gots all the kinks and fetishes i and many others enjoy. This game reminds me of harem hotel except i think this game is better it already has pregnancy content which harem hotel has been out 7+ years now and still doesn't have also this game has a wonderful massage mechanic a pretty fun farming mechanic and possibly other huge mechanic's added later i hope to see fishing and minning added in the future too

Message to the developer don't stop working on this masterpiece take your time and im sure you will get loads and loads of patreons subscribing to you including myself.

Excellent game. There's a lot of content for such an early release, and the lewd scenes and the girls are HOT.

The gameplay loop is IMO really pleasant to play and gives you the right amount of grind to reward(just enough to get you going for the actual sex scene). I really hope this gets finished.

Controls are pretty clunky and the original plot doesn’t make much sense but this is a porn game anyway.

It takes a while but the slow burn makes it all worth it once you reach the meat of the porn with one of the main girls. I find all the scenes to be really hot and amazing to watch.

It’s pretty amazing that the first few versions already has so much compared to other devs who don’t have anything after releasing a couple.

so in summary, pretty amazing game dev hope you keep it up and finish this game. Definitely one of my most favorite games right now and will be checking this now and again.

I started the game thinking it was a sandbox game. It is not, even if the introduction will tell you it is (yes, I read it). You have to complete all the task of the quests given to move into the story and unlock new contents. Which can be fine as it is. But it's a bit problematic when I don't care about the harem part of the game.
I already have to deal with the corruption, sorry disease of the protag which is a big meh for me, but that's fine. Personal choices.

That's the big issue with me, there are a few others, like : you can't sell more than 5 products at the time (*you can sell everything) (which block you from keeping a stock, or force you to sell during 3 minutes some 500 wheat).
Also, the navigation can be a bit… difficult to get into at first, and the character can have some difficulties navigating by itself in some rooms when clicking (ex : the living room)

There are others bugs like you can leave the spa naked if you click on “time” at night, which teleport you to your bed, but it's superficial.

For the rest, the music is correct, the sounds are as well, the design is a hit or pass, but I have seen way worse in 3D, this is good. Just… they don't look much human in many scenes (they kept their mouth open like robots while moving up and down. Animating humans is hard).

I note 3/5 mostly because of the sandbox thing, but it's not a bad game other than that, it's not something new, and it doesn't try to be it either. I just don't see myself coming back.

Edit: Score dropped from 2 to 1 because the game is now listed as abandoned, meaning it is not going to improve or fix the issues it currently has.

TLDR: Good idea, horrendous execution to the point that it is more frustrating just to play than it is rewarding when you finally get to H content.

I really wanted to like this game, I really did, but it went for a somersault and landed on its face.

The first massive issue with the game becomes immediately apparent within the first few seconds of playing the game, which is the movement you have to use to get around the map.
You have several options for movement, and none of them are good.
You can click with your mouse and hope that the auto pathing isn't shit, but most of the time it will be the worst of the movement options.
You can use WASD or the arrow keys with the movement options for these being that either the keys move the character in relation to their own position, which is horrible because you then move in constantly changing directions, OR you can set it to static north, south, west, east based movement, which is the best option of the three but its good qualities are immediately thrown out the window because the room changes that constantly happen will change what direction you're moving in.
Go into a new room and now you are suddenly going straight down even though you are holding the left arrow key. Going left? well now you're going up and to the right.

Now onto the next big issue, the map and the open world aspect of the game.
Few games successfully implement the open world aspect without it being tedious or pointless, and this is not one of those games.
The map is so frustrating and empty currently that it only makes everything about the game worse because you will spend more time trying to move around a large empty map than actually progressing the game.
Whole game would be better without the roaming aspect.

Now onto the third issue, the plot and quests!
The plot of the game is basically just that it's horny covid and you're a guy who took advantage of a natural tragedy to get things on the cheap (aka: you're a scumbag who took advantage of a Hawaiian volcano destroying people's homes to buy the land from them for far less than it was really worth)
This continues on with your "boss" buying a resort on a tropical island, so you move in with them and your "flatmate" and "childhood friend" to help them run things, but when you get there, for some reason the person who bought the place isn't even there because she was for some reason in another country!
So the established plot just goes right out the window in the first few minutes of the game.
The quests are tedious and annoying with them requiring you to see all of the available interactions before you can progress, and you can only see one interaction per day, so now it's just padding the runtime.

The singular thing that is decent about the game is the animations, but they are sporadic and inconsistent in their quality, some feeling absolutely pointless as they literally just are a second long and are just there to show one character hugging the main character, so all it really does is make the file size fatter, which is annoying if you prefer to download games over playing them online.
This is also made worse in that there is no gallery, so some of the good animations you will only ever see once unless you start a new game, which is a problem that you would think H-game developers would not make considering how essential the H content is to an H game.

So overall, there are far more negatives than positives to this game, but it gets a 2/5 instead of a 1/5 because it is only v0.20 at this point, so all of these problems could be fixed if the developer pays attention to reviews and criticisms.

The kinks are good and the concept OK, but execution is terrible. The way the game is presented makes you waste most of your time wandering where you should go. A large number of adult sandbox games tend to be boring because of this, but Milky Tides wins the prize for worst navigation ever. I couldn't be bothered to play the online demo beyond the first scene, nothing justifies this punishment.

Great quality and the pacing on the game is just right. Recommend to read the text. When you hold down the Space Key, you are able to skip repetitve text messages. Overally, this games seems promising and while it's lack of content but hey it's due in the early stage. Will definitely re-visit this games and hope it will be filled with more content

For an early build , it's one of the more objectively polished and stable of a first or second release so kudos on just that alone!

As for the content and game loop? Very solid for what was essentially an extended demo.

So, let's get started with my thoughts.

Pros:
- Gorgeous character designs, image render quality, and animations.
- Visuals. Overall solid and definitely high quality work.
- The world is colorful and easy to navigate.
- The fact that it's a harem sandbox that has a fair number of kinks to cater to automatically makes the game worth at least trying out.
- The story and characterization had fairly solid logic and buildup to it, which made me invested enough to see where the story will go on and how we'll build up our little island empire.
- Management and farming + lewd and harem + sandbox are a great combination that, while becoming more common in theses circles, isn't always handled with the care it deserves. No such issues here, so far.

Cons:
- Minor typos here and there.
- Lack of ability to customize character relationships, especially given some of the writing that all but makes it obvious what the 'implied/intended' roles are. It's honestly a bit odd to leave out seeing as we can, rightly customize character names to better tailor the experience to the player's liking, the hallmark of a good sandbox game. Hopefully, this'll get addressed in the future.
- The world is kind of barren at the moment, but that's less a minus and more the fact that this 'is' an early build.

Overall, the game is very well done and designed and shows a lot of potential. That said, it still has a long ways to go, especially if it wants to maintain the rather high bar v0.11 has set for it going forward. Naturally, this also means further polishing the finer details but overall, there are very few minuses against the project and it checks off quite a few of my personal pluses/kinks. It's right up there with Evalia: The Lust Kingdom, Lust n Farm, Hail Dicktator, and Harem Residence... among others.

Keep up the good work and I hope to see this project reach that lofty but uncommon 'completed' status that so few indie games seem to get to.

Anyone who has seen my posts knows that I don't post much here. But today, I want to share a bit about the game Milky Tides.

I'm not sure if the developer will read this, but if they do, great. If not, that's okay too (I'm not a sponsor of the game yet).

First of all, there are few Unity games that run as smoothly as this one without making my PC sound like it's about to take off with fans at full blast.

The story is engaging, and the quest navigation menu is very user-friendly with a certain charm to it. It could be improved, but it’s not a priority right now.

The graphics are pretty standard, similar to what you see in other games. Even the animations are basic, but personally, I don't mind that much.

The grinding aspect is manageable and doesn't require excessive repetition, so kudos to the developer for that.

Overall, is it worth playing? Yes, definitely!

Now, onto what I didn't particularly like:

The transition to anal sex because of pregnancy seems rushed. The game vaguely promises pregnancy, and it would make more sense for the contraceptive item to be introduced before the option for anal sex.

I enjoy the gradual progression in relationships, where the dialogue evolves from "Don't cum inside, I don't want to get pregnant" to "Come inside, I want to have lots of children with you."

I feel the romance aspect could be better developed, allowing characters to avoid pregnancy until they choose to (and please, not at the end of the game).

I appreciate it when a game includes pregnancy, making it a repeatable event with activities involving the babies, like taking care of them or providing weekly support. Not just having the baby and then it disappears.

That's just my two cents. See you next time, guys.

If you're looking for a quick side-game, this is it. The girls look great, the animations are nice and the sandbox gameplay is not grindy and you progress at a fast rate. The story is very shallow but that is not something the game aspires to be great in. Here and there are a few surprise kinks but nothing that should be too offending for most people. The only downside this game has is that can't be sure that you're not drunk or in a fever dream because the navigation is unfortunately, pretty ass.

A good game with decent story and good enough sandbox gameplay. Overall even the sandbox is there, the gameplay is still fast enough to let you get all the scene and progess the story without being exhauted. The story is your basic "epidemic forces people to stay together and lust magic voodoo", if you like it, then you will like the game. All the scene are animated and imo, very hot. I will give it 5/5 for doing everything just good enough

one of the best games in F95 Zone. The combination of 3D and 2D is good. All X scenes are Animated and replayable. the gameplay is simple and straight forward. This game is in my Watch Thread. Good Job creator

Story 2/5
I like the concept and the idea of this one but the story is just not there, its stupid and boring all at once, sandbox isent bad and i like the idea of freeroam but without freedom theres no real point of freeroam, your forced to follow a set kinetic storyline removing any kind of freedom other then sometimes picking which order to do quests but still kinetic.

The girls really all look the same, so its pretty much just one girl just with diffrent hair/tits but face is just the same.

As for plot its seen about a million times over be it as a power or sickness or whatever, where lust is MCs "problem" he then has to corrupt him self so he can do shit to the girl(s) so theres no real love route and any choices in any way which makes for just another mindless fuckfest just with very few LIs but still same goal fuck everything that moves...so forget about relationships or romance or any other kind of build-up it wont matter so you will never get to feel anything towards a LI.

It also feels absolutly idiotic when you meet the two new girls at the docks since your so called friend has apprently invited them inside you bedroom while you where stick so they could take a look at you dick???? i mean wtf...
but i guess scene is set for the mindless porngame, clearly shown by MCs dick popping out of hes full pants all on its own...its like freaking magic like the pants just vanished or made a hole so hes dick could show? its just awfull....

Also game forces kinks and fetishes on you as well which is simply just not something it should do since it will lose alot of people who arent into stuff like lactation to name one....which i personaly arent into so being forced to do it 5+ times is just no good, same for anal sex im not a fan and there is a shitload of that as well and forced goes without saying.

One of the worst part its so damn repetitive since you have to do the same damn quests 5 times over and only one can be done each day, its annoying and its boring as fuck, even worse when its a kink you might hate.

As for the virgin/deflower fans, forget this one altogether, you wont find a worse scene anywhere, girl grinds MC where dick just slips in, 0 pain 0 blood just "oh you just took my virginity and it was sooo good" its a joke really.

Well you have no choice in anything, all girls are forced cant skip quests or you wont be able to progress.

Its diffrent and its pretty easy and not that big a grind either so its a decent sandbox just to bad the rest isent, repetitive quests arent fun and should never be in the game, it only waste peoples time and make them quit.

TL;DR Great initial release. The scenes are fun, sexy, and come in multiple angles. As of v0.1, this game should provide a few hours entertainment. Controls are terrible.

• Cute character design
• Most scenes have multiple angles and choices, which provides a lot of variety to the lewd moments.
• Intentionally designed 1 handed controls (thank you dev)

Cons

• The controls are terrible. The dev commented about it, not realizing how jarring diagonal movement would be.
• There is no gallery

Notes/tips

• The money and farming system feels unnecessary. Finances are part of the main story, but the farming mechanic feels "extra" and apart from the main game play.
• The farming mechanic is for story progression and not for grinding money. After cooking is unlocked, all basic recipes provide a 1.5x return on your ingredients, which can quickly be grinded.

Solid few hours of content in its initial release with much more to come. Requires some fine tuning but a really good start! The story is compelling although there needs to be some refinement in what roles the characters have, which seems to be editable in future updates.
