Same in Poland, its probably the most popular military soup. It's fokin delicious.pea soup is a staple here in Sweden
It's easy to make, plenty of ingredients available due to peas being crop that does well in the climate and soil. Peas are also good nutritionally and taste well enough that most soldiers won't complain about getting pea soup. So it's understandable that it would be quite common in Europe, especially in the north and east.
C'mon, pea soup has its uses. I mean, how else are we going to describe how thick fog is?

Yeah, it was just a jest, as you're the "MC", so that's why it's hidden like that.
As others have pointed, the reason why dev does it like that is that they want you to imagine yourself in the MC's place. Not some generic ugly character model. Basically they want you to have better immersion of the story.

If someone really wants to know what the MC looks like they can spend hours scrolling through K7's discord to find the only known public release of the image ... or try to recreate it using the few reflected images in the game that might contain enough information. Not sure which would take longer ...
