I'm assuming "Tales" are supposed to be extra text stories, but there's no actual text, it's just a blank background with a scrollbar and a return button.
Any news on this? Started playing yesterday(been on my backlog for a while), and can't see any of the Tales. I love world/lore building extras, so I really feel like I'm missing out! Thanks in advance!
I'm glad people are interested in the Tales! They're probably the most fun for me to make. Just look at my post right above this one (or the fix linked in the main post) and you should be all set!
Unless you're playing the Android version, in which case I gotta compile a whole new one for you to redownload. I'll try to get to this tonight, but it's more likely going to be tomorrow.
never expected a screen rant ryan quote to be mentioned in game
I wasn't sure how I'd work those kinds of references in, but it was actually super easy. Barely an inconvenience!
GOT IT IN ONE!
Finally my many years of consuming detective fiction have paid off.
There's some details that aren't really cleared up in the end. I assume that was a deliberate choice?
Indeed it is! This game was just the setup for the larger Mythos world, after all! I had to leave plenty of little threads for people to pursue later, like what's going to happen with the Convocation Council, or what's going on with the Bureau, or where Becki (With an I)'s podcast is going, or what's up with Tara's grandmother... and many more things!
Nine of Swords I still have to find the right murderer but you did one heck of a job... although I'm pissed at BeckI.. You knew how much I hated that final fantasy reject that sat to talk with Ky at the cafe
Muahahahaha... I'm so, so glad that nobody figured this joke out early. I'm so proud of it.
The cat still rules as the winner in nearly every poll so it certainly has a cult following lol
Let's see if the cat still wins in the Discord polls now that Book One is complete!
Maybe it's just that MC/FeMC can refer to themselves as non-binary from the beginning of the game. That is, in conversations he/she will be referred to as they, not he/she. Or the MC becomes a futa character, many people like this fetish. (Or this was her April Fool's Day joke.)
I wasn't planning on doing a futa character (not yet, at least); it's just that people will be able to pick their own pronouns. This wouldn't change anything in the code (it'd be handled with a simple variable like male/female already is), so it wouldn't complicate the game any more. I'm non-binary, myself (though I know most of you all knew me before I discovered that about myself and still call me "she" - this is totally okay!), and I'd love to have other enby folks be happy to see it as an option.
If just having the
option is bothersome to some people... they're probably playing the wrong game, because I'm pretty clearly an inclusive person.
Maybe a Celestial character will be the MC in the second book.
Book Two's protagonist won't be a Celestial, but they're not going to be a Beacon or vanilla mortal either. I wanted to have Book One be done completely from the point of view of Ky having the epiphany of "holy shit, the world is not what I thought it was!!!"
Book Two is going to be the MC thinking "the world is so different from what it was a few years ago", followed by them having their own
, very different epiphany.
I see it's more like a fallout, same universe different protagonist. Can't wait
I've never played Fallout, but I think you have the right idea! Lots of games do this, like Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic... other games I'm totally blanking on, but I know they exist!
*********
To address the ending, I didn't want it to just be Ky doing a "do a backflip, snap the bad guy's neck, and save the day." I wanted it to be more of an "Avengers... ASSEMBLE!" moment. Ky is just some girl (or guy) who got sucked into all this, but managed to assemble the right team to take down the threat. Book Two is going to have a smaller cast, and will therefore be more "hero-centric".
