When it's a member of the opposite sex who is single, it is very strange to encourage someone just to become their friend. You are fully aware of the risk of it becoming more than a casual friendship.
Why are you reading into it too much? It's really not that deep! It's just a friend helping the other friend to get more social. Not every encounter leads to a relationship.

Maybe it's just me but I found it rather odd and peculiar. It would be a nice twist if Holly got "too friendly" with Stan while she was dating Ian.

I'm aware of the belief that a man and a woman can never be friends, but that isn't applicable to every relationship. Especially if at least one of the two parties isn't interested. Stan and Holly geek it out, they can spend hours talking without considering a relationship.
Not that I disagree that Stan likely forms a crush pretty quickly on her. Then she will reject him, if she is taken.

Imagine choosing Stan over Ian.

If Lena suggested that Holly get friendly with Robert or Mike then I'm sure you would all think it was odd. The fact that you view Stan as a geek is what makes it seem normal I guess.

No those guys are different because Ivy suggests Lena introduce them to her so that she sleeps with them NOT as being friends with them.

That "member of the opposite sex" is Stan for crying out loud. You think there's any actual risk of a woman forming more than casual friendship with him?:coffee:

(player-driven Lena's potential insanity excluded)

The circumstances are entirely different.
Holly and Stan hit it up at the pub on their own without Lenas intervention (though she has to like Stan and invite him). So Lena has the option to further encourage Holly to socialize with him.
There is no common ground Holly has with Robert and Mike, Ivy setting her up with Mark and Lena with Robert is just a pretense for sex and more or less spellt out. Lena is clearly not telling Holly to hang out with Stan because of the great sex he provides.

I suppose the game has sunk in so porn driven that the idea of a normal friendship just became too alien.

I don't think Ian, when he's in a relationship with Holly, would be too happy if he knew that Lena was encouraging her to befriend Stan. In fact he has the option to "intervene" when he sees them chatting at the concert.

He also has the option to let them nerd out. I really don't think he'd be that insecure.

Not every person who talks to your partner hits on them and every partner with common decency won't cheat on you just because they interact with someone else. Overcontrolling much?

True, but I just found it to be weird. Never mind.

Oh god, the game lets you push Holly and Robert together? That's fucking sick.

On their latest date, Robert asks Lena for a threesome with Holly.
*shudder*

Lena using Robert at the beginning of the game, poor taste but I get it. Why the hell you'd keep him around, let alone introduce him to Holly, or let him near her holes, people need to get back on their medication.

umm, why are u blaming the game? you can still keep the nerd Holly and let her flirt with Stan or whoever ever, heck you can also let Lena be innocent. Still, it is YOU the player who can push Holly to change and make her sluty which in turn leads to sexual relationships, which is more in line with her character development. also if this feels too you like porn driven then probably you haven't played GGGB.

For people who say this game is too porn driven, go play "Summer's Gone" which has too much story and romance, and drama with very little sex scenes.

I must've missed that one. Can't say that I regret it though.
It's better than that though. Robert asks about a threesome and Lena can respond by with and incredulous "You think you can handle the both of us". That was a deliciously bitchy moment out of Lena. I'm actually kind of invested in Robert in a sick way now, because I want to see if it's possible for him to rise to the challenge or if Lena, and hopefully Holly, will torment him over it.

If anyone deserves being mocked as a poor lover, Robert sure fits the bill.
