The display in PQ 2 should be in 16:9 aspect ratio and it would be good too, there would be no other shortcomings in it:whistle:
If Tikerer use an engine other than RPGMaker. Moreover, would it matter if the game running in a smaller window? If the game go full screen, do every player have a 16:9 screen? Do RPGMaker allow game resolution change?

NLT games are some of the most high quality adult games, they're all made using RPGMaker engine, RPGMaker makes the process of making an adventure game easier by already having a streamlined structure for stats, combat, equipment, inventory, maps, etc. A 16:9 ratio is kinda difficult for RPGM games, given the 48*48 tile thing, it has plugins to change games but it mostly depends on map sizes for it to work. RPGM is a very decent engine for making a game like Peasants Quest. The sequel can be made using the same engine, animations and videos can be 16:9 like NLT games. In the end it's the devs decision, he should pick an engine he's most comfortable with and that fits his vision for a game.

NTL use mostly custom tilesets, and they have a big and very experienced team (they are on their 6th game). However, are all NTL games in 16:9? I know that their last three games are in high res (looks nice in fullscreen), but I still remember seeing the black bar on the side when using fullscreen in Treasure of Nadia and The Genesis Order.

For PQ2, I'm pretty sure the Tinkerer will stick with RPGMaker. I'm not sure how Tinkerer got the tilesets for PQ. Did he make them himself? Or did he buy the assets? Or he has some help? For image and animation, the aspect ratio isn't as important as resolution. I would be fine with any aspect ratio as long as it's high res. For game play, 16:9 isn't necessarily better for RPGMaker style game. A little bit more room for a more detail map, but it also can be done with HD tiles in higher resolution.

Edit: I would consider NTL as "pro", and Tinkerer as "hobbyist".
