There's always a risk but malware incidents have been increasing on F95. I'ld not take the chance with old games suddenly getting updated? This is a 6 yo abandoned game, it's fishy to see it on latest updates.
Patreon has no release dated for December 6th 2024.
It was updated because the last released version was never brought to the site. The GDrive says December 6th 2024 because that's when it was added to the repository and has been untouched since...
It's also been scanned by an actually good antivirus instead of garbage like Defender, there's no mention of it on the
malware thread made specifically to track these incidents even after 24 hours (which, by the way, the detected games were all caught by that same antivirus), and the user who provided it isn't sketchy at all.
Also, you're making a weird false equivalency here. An old game getting a sudden update in a dead thread on this site has never been a virus, it's always been active threads and active games that get used as marks. It's not even a smart idea to target a thread like this because it's a lot easier to get caught from the low thread activity and wouldn't distribute very widely or quickly.
Oh, and it's a 48mb Flash file compiled in 2020.
Unless the user compiled this over 5 years ago, waited until 4 months ago to add it to a GDrive and let it sit until last Sunday, all to troll a niche abandoned game and ruin their active 6 year account... Gonna go out on a limb and say your worries are unreasonable at best.
