Obviously, the lack in writing quality can be attributed to a lack of writing experience. Come to think of it, the Adult VNs we have been enjoying so far haven't actually leaned into the novel aspect much. The situations are largely identical, with a select few 'cliches' repeated ad nauseam.I was going to mention this, but forgot. Another simple thing is not end every sentence with sis and bro. “Hey brother it’s time to get up. Breakfast is ready big brother are you up now brother? Hey brother you’re my brother, brother”
But on the other hand (as I've mentioned before), currently the main skill required for these games is in the 3D modelling/animation industry. A higher barrier to entry, so to speak. Anyone can write a book (maybe not as well as Stephen King, but it is relatively easy to start and learn better techniques), while not anyone can just pick up 3D rendering as a hobby. You need a high-end desktop machine to even get started (a several thousand $/€ investment), let alone to stand out in terms of visual quality. Then you need to learn a modelling program, some which require additional monetary expenditure.
So, I can safely say I understand what it even takes to consider becoming an Adult VN developer, let alone the exorbitant costs it mandates to make it your full-time job (in order to provide consistent and timely output, something that has cost a lot of popular VNs their life).
I am optimistic, however, that with time & market saturation we will begin to see a rise in more sophisticated writing. One that will ultimately lead to more engaging content, moreso than what a remarkable render quality can provide.
