For me it's the context. I thought I read that they were going to make more specific tags for the kind of NTR context, but I haven't seen any changes to the tag, lol.

So I'm playing through the full version now, and taking my time lol, and I love the writing around Morty and NZ Jessica. Morty is just like "this is the ONE universe were Jessica is together with a Morty willingly?!", lmao. I forget if that was apart of the OG version's writing or if it was added by NM, but it's hilarious!
Just finished it and wanted to stop in and say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just like the show. Great job all around.

Yeah~ it's all mixed together in my head. I don't remember where that specific dialogue came from without going back and replaying the original.
The hugs (and kisses) are one of my favorite additions to the game! There are shockingly few hugs (and kisses) throughout the Unity version, and while I put in (i.e. made a few crappy) extra ones at the start, WatsonTouya contributed pretty much all the current Morty/Morticia hugs in the game. I just sprinkled them around.
So, wait, in that analogy am I getting mouth raped by the community? Or sucking them off to please them? Or have been kidnapped by the evil, alternate version of the community, forced into sexual slavery, and then the regular community (who is also my twin from another universe?) came to rescue me, but instead of using the key on the wall to free me, made me sexually please them to escape this hell of drawing new art content?!... I might be over analyzing this.
I think there are several contributing factors that have made this game "more" popular (on this site at least, I can't speak to other places), but as you specifically asked game play, that's fairly simple to answer.
More game play is not "good" game play, it's just "more".

Having gameplay isn't always better. Especially when that gameplay is janky broken dogshit. I'm sure if the original game wasn't a glitchy mess, Nightmirror wouldn't even have made this game.
