Almost every update does break the saves though.

About saves - it's lying, because i didn't have any problem with it beginning 0940 vers. It you see notification about old version, it's not forbidden for using it, and often saves - not your problem, you can just transfer it versions to versions without any problems.

So you mean the save is fine only if you don't miss any version? Maybe, didn't check the case.
Because the save from 960 was completely brolken on load in 963.

Well, I didn’t have this problem. I transferred old save from 958 in 963 - it wasn’t problem for me. Save didn’t broke game
