I don't know what Sekien no Inganock is doing here, but I can tell you that it's one of the best VN's ever (I'd put it in a top 10), so I'm not against it. The thing that is puzzling me, is the fact that this is a title with enough impressionistic content, to confuse both VN readers, and porn enjoyers. I'm glad that this is here, but one has to wonder how the "screening process" works.
Positive:
- It's no different from a good book. Writing, characters, and story are all top tier in the VN medium, it's not even fair to make comparisons, in most cases, if you were to ask me.
- Great and unique art style (just look at the cat girl in the screenshots).
- Some of the best Japanese voice acting ever, not just VN's (I don't know what's here, but this needs the full voice reborn patch, to be true).
- Translation is amazing (I'm assuming it's still the same one, I read back in the day) one of the best ever, and let me tell you this must have been a pain in the behind to translate.
- More symbolism, allegory, and subtext (subjective content) than you can possible handle. If you understand everything in one go, take an IQ test, because you are probably above 140 (I'm kidding, but it's really crazy).
- Some of the most interesting themes you can find in the medium (pretty much everything has to do with negative emotions, so be aware), and everything the characters do, represents something that has meaning in the story.
- The premise and setting, have supernatural that ends up connecting to the themes I mentioned above. I could go on believe me, Sekien no Inganock is truly exceptional.
Negative:
- Production values are limited, and there's an annoying mini-game, which is vital to the story (I think the walkthrough for it, was included with the translation? Try following that, or "enjoy" a long trial and error process).
Score: Sekien no inganock is a 10/10, and I can't express how amazing this is with a small review. The writer may not be a genius, but the scenario is perfect. I know how the following sounds, but don't read this unless you are in the mood to spend some serious "brain power", figuring things out.
(This has almost no 18+ content, and the one that is there, is different from what you are probably expecting)
