As a Brazilian person, I totally understand your point. Here the word "copyright" is a big joke. Nobody really cares, so much so, that in the 2000s and early 2010s street vendors, "ambulantes"; and modders with various alternative versions and modified "official" copies, made a lot of money with illegal sales, nowadays that has changed, though.
But Nintendo started to look more at the Global South, they even sued a market in Costa Rica, "Super Mario" was the name, and they lost, kkkkkkkk!
