There's no restriction on mods. The other thing patrons get is access to outfits. There are patron-exclusive outfits, and patrons can equip whatever outfits they want from the start, while free edition users have to unlock most of the outfits.

do debt bounty hunters still only show after the maid academy? also how do you get into debt quick
I moved it to be earlier, they can now start appearing after you've been to the dungeon for the first time, which will always be when you meet Gray in chapter 1.
To get into debt quickly in the early game, spend as much money as you can at the market, then wait for rent to be due. Once you're in the negatives, there's a brief grace period before bounty hunters can start showing up. The odds of bounty hunters showing up are based on how long you've been in debt and how much debt you're in.
In the mid-late game, you can talk to Gerard and he can put a "fake bounty" on you whenever you want, so you don't actually need to go into debt anymore to visit the debtors' prison beyond that point. I believe he becomes available in chapter 3 sometime.

BTW, I don't have account on GitLab, but I think i encountered a bug. When you first make a potion there should be a message about talking to Roland regarding getting a market license. At least I remember it from first play. But I restarted after a short time, and no message, made plenty of potions and still can't talk to Roland.
Also MC lactate from the start like others mentioned.

It seems I've locked myself out of a certain ending I would've preferred to get, but I'll ask here in case someone else has advice that doesn't require loading a save from chapter 4 or starting over.

All that aside, the game was very good and I enjoyed every bit of it.
I don't remember what the stat requirement is for seducing him, but you can use a potion to boost your seduction stat. Failing social skill checks grants more stat growth than succeeding them, so you should also be able to just brute force it eventually. You can also grind potion-making for an actual useful potion to give him (it doesn't take that long). Giving him a love or heat potion also works, but he'll try to bone you in public so you won't be able to complete the seduction attempt without a perk or two in exhibitionism.
In v1.0.0 I did change the logic of this interaction to make a slightly larger pool of potions you can give him to test more likely to succeed, so that's probably the best way, still.
