Hard disagree. I won't even touch the game if I can't run at least URM. I have not had a single instance with any game in which URM did not wildly improve the experience. This is especially true with games such as Summer's Gone. I like having control of my playthrough. Not falling prey to devs getting clever with variables or limiting your experience in order to force you into multiple routes/saves.
I thought the same times ago but then came the point at which I realized that I wasn't giving myself more control, but rather less control. Instead of making my own decisions, I only ever chose the options that the mod showed me to be the best. It's like reading a book. In the end I played the game like the mod wanted, but not like I would have done. In principle, the author shouldn't have built any queries into the game. You just keep clicking. Only at the moment on the variable displayed by the mod. I took the fun out of the AVN. It's a lot more fun to discover things and see things that other players don't even notice because they never get to see those dialogues and images because of their gameplay. And as I said: I also use URM from time to time. But never in my first playthrough, the real playthrough. Only in later runs, although I tend to go for walkthroughs and only check something with URM from time to time. Every once in a while I change a variable, but mostly it's unnecessary.

Ah. I can certainly understand your point of view. But we are very different I guess. You focus on the journey, I only care about the destination.

I am the guy who reads the last page first whenever I open a new book. I am the guy who looks for spoilers and reviews for tv shows and movies before watching them. And the reason why is simple. There is no worse feeling than that of having wasted your precious time or money into something that ends up disappointing you. When it comes to AVN's specifically, a little old game called Acting Lessons, taught me the value of URM and mods. It still is today the single worst adult game I've ever played because my experience was dreadful throughout the entire thing. Had I known about URM sooner I could have steered my playthrough into something more palatable. Had I read spoilers I would have known to avoid that particular game. I would rather not have a similar experience with Summer's Gone.

We already have so little control over our own lives or the world around us... I'll always take some of it back wherever I can .

Ran into the most common error I keep seeing in visual novels!!! An UNDEFINED variable, unless it is set it to TRUE; he otherwise doesn't do a thing, because after all, the program will switch to ESP mode and read his mind and just KNOW the variable exists!!!

I needed to add in
Python:
default wingnami = False
...to "PatchSG.rpy" because the DEV didn't define a default. Sorry, a tad annoyed that I keep seeing this SAME ERROR in so many VNs!!! The Dev doesn't bother to define the variable unless he sets it to "True" which is bad programming as when you go to test if it is "True", and it was not set, than it is UNDEFINED and the program doesn't know what variable talking about and so it throws an exception!

If you're going to program these things, DEFINE ALL VARIABLES BEFORE YOU USE THEM ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!! Man... anyhow... I am done ranting. Thank God I know how to program and it was a relatively easy fix FOR ME.

END RANT.... ;)
Edited language out. LOL

Update: this SEEMS to be a product of the "reworking my old game" that plagues us all, and seeing as how he redone chapter 1 but not 2 and removed an idea and variable from earlier chapter but didn't search his project for other instances of the variable, this happened. CTRL+SHIFT+F... learn to use it to search your project for other instances of your variable folks, and clean it up properly (if you use the ATOM editor anyhow, which you should).

One of my favorite renders in the game. Man, I really don't want him to rework this scene.

I really hope he doesn't . It always botherd me how ridiculous she looked wearing what ever that is to something as serious as breaking into someone's house. It's one of those moments where the Dev pulls a perv and makes a female character wear something risqué just to show off her assets but the actual scene doesn't call for it in any way shape or form. It was kinda a recurring theme in the beginning of this game. Bella being topless while crying and having a heart to heart convo with the MC in CH3 and Nami crying then removing her bra for no reason while having a heart to heart with the MC. It's ridiculous lol and I'm sure there's more instances like this in the game. Anyways I think a black hoodie and a pair of black leggings will look better on Bella for this scene and it will suit the occasion more.

Ran into the most common, and STUPID error I keep seeing in visual novels!!! an UNDEFINED variable because the DEV is too retarded to define it unless he sets it to TRUE, he otherwise goes into retard mode and doesn't do a thing, because after all, the program will switch to ESP mode and read his fucking mind and just KNOW the variable exists!!!

Thank God some of us can program and know a little about these things... I needed to add in

define wingnami = False
To "PatchSG.rpy" because the DEV is a newb programmer. Sorry, a tad annoyed that I keep seeing this SAME ERROR!!! The Dev doesn't bother to define the damn variable unless he sets it to "True" which is utterly RETARDED as when you go to test if it is "True", and it was not set, than it is UNDEFINED and the program doesn't know what variable you are fucking talking about and so it throws an exception!

So Nami acting like a wingman is not set right by the dev? Is that why she always telling me to fuck other girls or how horny they are even though I'm on her route and she basically told my protagonist she was in love with him? It feels inconsistent....and moments like that are littered throughout the game...

I've stopped playing AVN's with mods long time ago. It's truely better in the most cases. Sure, I've installed URM and sometimes I use it but you'll have more fun without modding after all.
Never played with mods, I don't see the point personnally.

Some mods can help fix prog mistakes though, glitches, some smoothens animations, and the like, so there are some perks to them.

Modders here work hard to maintain them, that's for sure.

Still, playing to cheat all paths in, it's just being lazy, pure waste of time.

It looks like you're shooting in the wrong direction, this variable only occurs in Chapter2.py in the "if" condition and nowhere else, it seems to be an uncleaned remnant from chapter 2 before the rework. If my memory serves me right, this variable was set in a deleted part of the bathroom scene when MC had the option to say that he likes Mila and that switched Nami into full Cheeto mode about being his wingman.

So sorry for you, but it happens in 4.5 full :ROFLMAO:
Okay, I was talking about this:

the basketball team's leader (the guy who puts a finger in Trey's ass!) arriving
in old version basketball team's leader is played by "Dolph Lundgren" :KEK: :

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

He started "inspection":

Then the leader SLAPPED Trey's ass:

Then the leader told Trey about other guy who likes to do deeper inspections

So in old version the leader didnt put finger in Trey's ass and even special dude who likes to do that didnt do it to Trey. But you are saying things are different in 4.5 full?

I don't think he's "slapping" his ass, bro :sneaky:. Anyway, I'm not especially fond of / interested in that moment. I guess you were impressed.

You don't need to think about that, there is slap sound right at that moment in the game

Anyway, I'm not especially fond of / interested in that moment. I guess you were impressed.
Guys, pay attention at the characters in the background.

First day at "university" (sure it is :sneaky: ). Nojiko's talking to MC & Nami: you will notice Sasha and the basketball team's leader (the guy who puts a finger in Trey's ass!) arriving, entering the building and walking around together for a while.
You are so not interested in that moment that you even imagined something about it that didn't actually happen in the game and wrote that imaginative action as the hallmark of the basketball 1st team's leader :KEK:

Bruh, you can still say that you have bad memory.. :Kappa:

Is that why she always telling me to fuck other girls or how horny they are even though I'm on her route and she basically told my protagonist she was in love with him? It feels inconsistent....and moments like that are littered throughout the game...
I played two routes, one where I stay home and gain points with NAMI and one where I went to meet with BELLA that night. On the route where you stay home, that gains you +5 points with Nami and that ultimately leads to this problem. I don't know where that variable is ever set, I didn't look through the code, but this is a common problem I see in many many visual novels. Their code probably goes something like...

Python:
menu:
   "Sleep with her":
      default sleepwithher = True
"You bang her guts out and get an STD"
   "Say goodbye":
      "You wisely avoid her"
Now in this scenario, if you choose the first option, the variable will be defined and set, but if you do not, the variable is never defined at all and so it doesn't exist. The developer is ASSUMING the program will see that variable as false if it is not set, which shows how new they are to coding. The program will throw an exception because you're asking for the value of a non-existent variable! When you set a variable in programming, the variable name itself is just for your own reference. The computer sets a memory address associated with that name and then stores whatever values you wish there. No variable = no memory address and no value, hence the huge exception and program crash. A better way to do this sort of scenario is this...

Python:
default sleepwithher = False
menu:
   "Sleep with her":
      $ sleepwithher = True
"You bang her guts out and get an STD"
   "Say goodbye":
      "You wisely avoid her"
...this way you define the variable and the default value for it no matter what the player chooses, so memory is asigned and a default value stored in it that the program can later check, and then the value can be changed later if needed. if it is not changed, there will still be a default value (in this case "False" which is usually zero in memory) assigned for that location so when it is checked, the program doesn't fail like it did.

It was EASY for me to fix, but annoying as hell because I see this A LOT.

In the future, if you see an exception where a variable is not defined, this is the problem. if you extracted or have access to the .RPY file, you can load it up and add 'default variablename = "False"' or whatever to the top (if it's a true/false variable, or a number like zero to it if it looks for a value etc). The game will automatically recompile the script at runtime and it will be fixed if you done everything right.
