I wouldn't say she's a 4, but she's not all that hot to me. 6 maybe. That said, I think I generally rate all the women in the game lower than most people do.
Agreed. She's not ugly by any means. Just very plain and generic that doesn't really catch people's eyes.

I just realized there was chocolate on the table. I thought the strawberry chocolate referred to the new girl.
My guess is that will be the clickable thing that unlocks the render, which is why Ocean named the render that way. Otherwise, maybe he has a thing for chocolate bars? Better way to name than Render4791.png in any case. :coffee::whistle:

The old one had detail new one is just brown. Shit she is a redhead nipples should be more pinkish and if you wanted to change something sprinkle some freckles on those Titays.
Yeah I totally agree, I somehow expected pinky ones, something like in this pic:
Cute redhead.jpg

But Ocean gave her nipples like have Indian or dark skinned Asian girls. Of course there are occasional examples of white women with this kind of nipples, but they have usually mixed race.

I've got the feeling that this game has mini sex scenes just like WIAB
It doesn't have any sex scenes at all. But honestly? I'm not even looking forward to them. If we take WIAB as an example, Ocean is quite bad at making sex scenes. WIAB has a couple but they are quite boring and short. The animation is pretty bad too.

Hello,

The log after this one will be on Wednesday the 12th. I want to return to the Wednesday Dev logs.
I took the liberty of postponing this log until I had some numbers from the new Workstation... And boy do I have them now.

With the arrival of the new Workstation, my old 2021 Workstation will become a slave PC.
The entire process of moving the library and everything else over took around 60 hours.

Workstation comparisons and data.
I did the following tests:
  • Load & render a scene with 2 people in it.
  • Load & render a scene with 20 people in it. (Book club from Chapter 5)
  • Render a test animation.
  • Load a character into the scene.
  • Scene saving
---------------------------
2 People scene. (Opening and rendering)
Old: 13:20min
New: 8:25
Improvement: ~5min
---------------------------
20 People scene. (Opening and rendering)
Old: 46:08min
New: 29:20min
Improvement: ~17min
---------------------------
Test animation - 70 Iterations - 120 frames
Old: 1:45h
New: 1:13h
Improvement: ~32min
A final animation would run at 1500 iterations and there it would save even more time because of the additional A6000. (I would assume it would run 2-3h faster. I'll test it overnight.)
---------------------------
Okay, okay... You save 5min here and 17min there... Let me put this into perspective.
If I have an update that is ~7000 renders big, and I save an average of 11min per render, we're looking at 53+ days saved.
That's almost 2 months saved of just Daz opening and rendering scenes.
The bigger the scene, the more time I save... In the grand scheme of an entire update, we're talking about months.
After Chapter 1, I'll return to my normal update size of ~3000-3500 renders. With an average of 11 minutes saved, we save almost an entire month.
This is without adding the 2nd Workstation to it, which currently runs on a 4090. It will render animations until there are none left to render, at which point it moves over to the stills.
I haven't had the chance to test the new PC in the queue yet, but if it can render more than 55-70 renders a night, it will constantly outperform me.
---------------------------
Other improvements that will add up:
  • Scenes like the book club save 5-10x as fast. It sometimes takes almost a minute to save a scene, which disrupts the flow. Now, it saves giant scenes in less than 10 seconds.
  • Loading characters into the scene. On the old Workstation, it took 2:30 minutes to load Bellchen into a scene, whereas it took 1:01 minutes on the new workstation. This is a big one, as I often have to load assets and characters into the scene. I can only assume that poses will also load faster.
  • And my favorite: the viewport performance. On the old Workstation, it feels like you have 3 fps in the book club scene. It feels like going through mud up to your thighs with a screen freeze every 10-15 seconds.
On the new PC, it feels like there are maybe four people in the scene. Scenes with just two characters feel empty.
This is so important because it directly impacts your mental. If a scene lags and the screen freezes every X seconds it will annoy the shit out of you.
  • The airflow of the case is amazing. It keeps the 3x A6000 ADAs at ~60-65°C without me removing the side panel. (Which I had to do for all other PCs.)
  • Photoshop feels much smoother. A big hassle during postwork is that after a while the performance drops hard.

On paper this Workstation is worth every penny, however, let's see how it will perform over a long period of time.
From now on, I will count every render I make and give you the number in every dev log. So in 11 days, you'll hear about what I rendered, not just setup, but actually rendered out.
We're starting at 0.

If we ignore the past 3 days in which I spent setting everything up, work has been continued as usual.
I do my scenes, the queue does queue-things and that's all there is.
Actually, the phone chat is done and I'm preparing SFX files for the update.

Previews:
I just picked two random renders for previews today, as I just wanted to test if my Adobe workflow works on the new PC.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
The Mila render looks like a wallpaper but is actually an ingame render on a specific route with a slightly different art style.
With the next Dev Log I'll make true of what I said a few dev logs ago, there will only be one preview from now on.
Apparently, I'm one of the only devs who shows multiple previews every single Dev Log and while I like doing it, it shows too much.
I want to keep more scenes a secret and sometimes, I'll add a nude preview for the Summer tier and above.

I'll end this Dev log here because I'm so excited to work. I want to see and feel what it's like to work with this beast.
I mentioned the Specs of the workstation in the last Log I think... I added my previously acquired two A6000 ADAs to the one that came with the workstation.
I also got enterprise SSDs with 7.68TB and one of them is in RAID 1 to minimize the risk of data loss.

I'll see you in 11 days with some numbers.
  • Ocean
has anyone told ocean his large library is the cause of his slow loading times?

this is something many devs fight with. Every morph is the library is loaded with every scene. even if not used. . .

maybe Someone can pass it on and save another couple months of development Time?

Hello,

With this Dev Log, we return to the old Bi-weekly Wednesday Dev log schedule.

So... after the last log, some complained that I didn't give as much info regarding the render count, etc.

I heard ya and from now on I will ban everyone who asks me that.

Of course, I'm just kidding and will, from now on, provide a bi-weekly render count + a total.

The reason why I stopped doing it is because a lot of expectations come with them.

The irony is, no matter how many renders I add, it's always too little.

People go ham with the conspiracy theories if there's a discrepancy between two weeks.

I could post a render count every week with the same amount of images added, and people would still find a way to uncover "the truth".

It's exhausting.

However, I like to be transparent, and a render total is a part of it.

The last total render count was mentioned on the 19th of December, just short of Christmas. I took it easier over Christmas and created all the Christmas Treats.

~3750 renders -> ~4790 (+ a hundred in the queue)

-------------------------
12 days ago, I said I'd count how many renders I do between Dev Logs to see how much the Workstation improves productivity.

I won't count two of these days because the first day was already over, and I took one day to care for some personal relationships.

Previously, I'd do and render around 20-40 daily renders and zero animations. (Animations would lock down the PC for the entire day.)

So, in 10 days of work with the new Workstation, I created AND rendered out:
641 still renders
7 animations.

It went from:
~300 to 671 images
0 to 7 animations.

I didn't completely reach my goal of 70 renders a day. (Average of 64).

However, new environments and giant scenes make this impossible if you want to maintain quality. Sometimes, I can only set up 20-40 images, while other times, I reach 80-100.

From now on, I aim for 70 renders a day, but I won't beat myself up if it's "only" 40-50. I still have my quality to maintain and improve.

The workstation peaked at 78 images a night the other day, and with that, it outperforms me, which is fantastic.

My old Workstation will render animations until they're all done.

Keep in mind that not all renders are exclusively for SG.

With the new Season, I'll introduce collectibles.
I'll do the layered renders for them at the end, but let me show you what kind of image might be behind them.
4K attached.

These images will thematically fit the scene in which they were found. You won't find a sudden nude Sasha in there, but you will find pleasant surprises.
There's another thingy I will introduce, and I'll talk about it in the next log.

Back to work.

I just came to check after months, and bro is introducing new characters . I need to update my timeline to completion from 23 years to 27 now.

Let me see if I understand correctly, he has a total of 4890 SG renders taking into account the 100 in the queue, correct?

Well, the queue is unrendered. Once they're done, he'll have 4890 done of the 6000-7000 renders anticipated. But he can now do animations on his old computer while setting up and rendering, so there's a whole lot of performanc gains.

Based on 60 renders per night for both games (give or take), that queue will be done in ~ three days. To reach 7000, there's another 2100 renders, at the same rate, another 70 days beyond that. So I'd guess Ocean's aiming for May, and based on current numbers, that's plausible. If he gets more renders set up, he might get 35 a night per game.

Glad you told me before download it
I'm wondering why this game got high rated with no sex scenes ?!
even if it has a good story, in the end we are in porn games forum

Thanks for confirming.

Ocean has been developing S2 since late 2023. In 2024, there was no real update, just a mediocre rework and a disappointing chapter 5. WiAB had less than 3k renders when chapter 3 was released in early 2024.

Considering that WiAB has a little less than 4k renders and SG less than 5k, I come back to my old question: Did Ocean spend 2024 doing anything? From the data, it seems he only complained about taxes and his PC, because he didn't start with the animations and I believe he hasn't gotten to the codes yet. I wonder if the writing has already been finished (I don't remember if he mentioned it in any dev log).

Some people think that this new PC will speed up the next updates. Don't be fooled, the more Ocean has, the more he delays.

If you consider ch5 disappointing, there's not really much point extrapolating from numbers for you is there? I mean, a lot of people enjoyed Ch5. I'm not going to argue about the rework, because that's been done to death, and everyone's made their own mind up about it. Suggesting it wasn't work that took time is just a way to say, "why isn't Ocean creating the content I want, sooner?" You're effectively saying that only the content you want to see matters. Well, S2 Ch1 is supposed to have content for all the LI's, even the ones you're not on the path for. Either you like the game and it's potential enough to wait for the update or ....you don't.

Pretending that nothing happened in development is just ridiculous. Ocean dis spend 2024 doing things. That's when the rework was completed. Again, whether or not you like the rework, Ocean did it, that is actual dev time.

Regarding WiaB, well, the WiaB log is interesting. We'll see how soon Ocean renders that last scene, seeing he's anticipating being on postwork by the next devlog: 1 scene and animations left. But since he's gotten the work station he's been able to do animations while setting up other scenes. Also, old Wiab was around ~4500 renders before Ocean restarted. So Ch4 nearly has the same amount of renders as the whole original game. I can see the value in the rework of that.

Both of these updates will be the biggest updates Ocean has done in any of his work. If you can't wait to see if there's any content you'll stick around for that's completely up to you.

Does it even matter? PPl have no expectations towards this dev at all. PPL in this thread jack off to a random zoomed in Bella render and make up more stories in their free time with the characters than the dev did in 6 year of development.
6 year of development and 7k render count coming up in 2-3 months and the main protagonist still can't get his dck hard.
With the steam release he ripped off his own patreons and toke more money from these clever individuals. While you can't even call his other "game" a game too, other devs with half a year work progress a story more than him in 6 years on 2 games. Again no expectations... fans are happy with a pretty render and fantasize about it till the next dev update.
